Hi I have been struggling with getting a stable, usable version of eve working on my system. I have just dumped windows because of the constant crashing and virus attacks and I really like Linux for my work. But the only game I play is eve and it seems very hard for me to get it working.
I have removed every thing from my previous install¦s but the one thing left to fix is my mouse cursor.
Currently its a block of random pixes, but other then that I have the client running.
I have two screens setup in twinview but thats working fine.

I have same issue with linux and nvidia newest drivers (180.22 or so). I've made petition about it, thou I think it's nvidias drivers givin grief on that one (worked fine with 170. or so drivers). |

Maybe reverting to an older driver would work, can anyone confirm this.

Hmm, i have the same problem after switched from OpenSuse 11.0 to 11.1.
I also have the problem since i updated the nvidia drivers on a debian machine after an kernel update switching from nvidia driver 177.82 to 180.22.
So my guess is that the 180 nvidia drivers are causing problems. But i hadn't the time so far to test, if the problem disappears when i switch back to an earlier version.
Btw, the wine-version seems to be unaffected by the problem, i use that now.

Mouse cursor works fine under ubuntu 8.04 / system specs are quite similar.
Only 1 problem i have in the cedega wrapped client is the caldari type stargate, dont think i've ever seen a whiter white |

I downgraded the nvidia-driver in my debian system from 180.22 to 177.82 again and the mouse cursor works again

If you're running the latest drivers make sure that cursor shadow is off, that buggers up a lot of mouse stuff atm |

Running ubuntu 8.10 (32bit) with the 2.6.27-11 kernel from proposed updates nvidia 180.22 drivers cursor shadow on OR off amd x2 dualcore 3800 nforce4 motherboard 4gig ram 300 gig sata drive
No cursor issues here at all, but I'm running the wine 1.1.13 with the eve premium client.
The official client has cursor issues, as well as font issues and a host of other problems.
If you're running the "official client" good luck on that. (no sarcasm intended.)

I'm having the same problemwith the cursor, block of random pixels , as soon as i upgraded from Open suse 11.0 -> 11.1 with the new vidio drivers (nvidia 180.22)
When i use wine things seem fine, except it crashes every now and so often :( I'm disabling sound for now and see how it works out.
Too bad the official client has that problem with the new drivers. I was quit used to playing with it. rock stable for me. I must say that the FPS is much better with the wine install. But the official was good enough for me (miner )
system : dell XPS 710 quad core Q6700 2.66 ghz 2 GB ram nvidia 7950GX2 card dual monitor
OpenSuse 11.1 (tried default and pae kernel) Kernel 2.6.27 xdm & fvwm2 windowmanager
- official cedega client (engine eve-000130) with problems - Wine version 1.1.13
