Allow pilots to flip their skills from any internet browser by logging onto the official Eve website.
Available to: All active subscribers Restrictions: May only change currently learnt skills. Benefits: Can flip skills without the Eve client. Eg. At work, out of town, friend's place, on your phone because you forgot to flip the skill before you left home >.>. Also, would reduce a lot of learning downtime; a potential substitute or complementary feature to skill-queuing. |

Shot down before or after ghost training was removed? If it was shot down before.. now might be the time to revisit the question. |

Irrelevant. CCP wants players to play the game. They don't want people to mass produce characters to later resell on eBay. Sure, it's happening already. And it's not that hard to log in and change skills. But at least it looks as though you're attempting to play the game. If all you needed was an internet connection, you could set up a macro or bot to train characters all day, and then sell off Titan or Carrier pilots en mass. --- Don't take my ranting personally. I may just be arguing the topic, unless you're saying something stupid, and then I mean every word. "Players don't want Variety. They want THE BEST" |

Part of the reason it was shot down was the above character farming.
The devs gave two reason, 1 they wanted people to play the game.
2) they did not want some to right a tool that interfaced with the eve website and managed your skill training for you.
If you want the full idea look in the posting rules that are stickied at the top of the forum, in there is a link to the commonly proposed idea's there a version of this idea exists. |

One doesn't necessarily have to play the game currently, in terms of the utilising the available functions that a pilot might fulfil, in order to flip skills. You can log on, flip a skill, and log off. Similarly, with the internet browser suggestion, you can log on, flip a skill, and log off. The two are identical save for the fact that one occurs in game, and the other not.
The idea of interface exploitation and/or macroing is definitely cause of concern. I'm not au fait with the technicalities around security but I would hazard a guess that there might be some protective mechanisms that could be put in place to prevent automated skill flipping.

you could always use a skill planning list like EVE-MON (you register the API) and then you can monitor yourskills at work (after all it is only one way but atleast it can help you plan the finishing times so that you will be home for them)
Or you could think about Remote desktop from work to your home PC and log the client in there... your work pc doesn't have to support it (all it will be doing is showing you what is happening on your home pc) you'll be going at about 1FPS but its enough to change skills. (also I believe this works best with classic client) |
