OMGZOMGZOMGZ! Dev confirmation!!
Seriously, players have been posting for months if not years that EVE is dying; at the same time we have continued to deliver new expansions, new content, new technology, new hardware, increased the subscriber base and broken records left and right...
...and new nerfs, don't forget new nerfs. and new disappointments, too. while I acknowledge your efforts, there are a TON of things that CCP handled very poorly in 2008 and that could have been handled MUCH better.
ghost training nerf and abysmal and even ridiculous censorship on these forums spring to mind... |

These peak concurrent "player" numbers are meaningless until they are sustained.
Sure, teh EVE cluster was at 48K characters online for about 20 minutes today and now we are down to 43.5K.. So what, it does not matter until the system can accommodate 48K+ characters for an extended amount of time without lag, and the associated problems the EVE cluster experiences when it is under *real* load.

Then eve is dead, it cant sustain any number of players for even a full day. ;_; it was nice knowing you eve. |

lag has never been as good as it is now i remember playing with only a few 1000 people online and eve handles alot better these days. have to admit i dont like how crowded it feels these days tho. gone are the days of 90% of empire systems being empty i`d be suprised if u can find a hi sec system now with no one in it.

Only lag I got was in jita and that wasnt bad at all, just a slight delay in market orders. |

There are those few with only 3-4 belts no stations in hi-sec. No players in there as mostly the ore is gone only an hour or 2 after DT and so the system hasn't any other purpose then to be a timesink for travellers :p
Heck where are the times you saw a rare apoc with 8 mining lasers popping with long boring work 1 roid. Now most belts are gone just after DT.

I'm seconding this. I really dislike the censorship.
However it's more likely a liability/lawsuit deal than anything else. I would still *greatly* prefer if these forums didn't seek to protect people from 'bad' words. Thanks, morality police. |

bring back 20k peak :( i really dont see 50k concurrents to be anything meaningful or anything to boast about with eve, it lowers the bar when it comes to game quality. hello common 1000man systems, oh wait we can just "reinforce the node" what if the lemons move from system huh? what if they travel/cyno to a different node cluster**** is what you get.
well done an achievement worth awarding.
roll on 100k concurrents shall we?
DO YOU NOT SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING WRONG?

If EVE had enough subscribers for 100k concurrent to be feasible, then CCP would have more than enough financial justification for a major server upgrade.

so...how many of the 48000 are you saying were inactive?
i know there are always the "this is not the PCU you're looking for" crowd of naysayers, but are you (or anyone) seriously saying that, at the peak of "online accounts" that the game is actually moribund?
if CCP's stats are to be believed, those of us with multiple accounts are the minority (as are forum readers, generally speaking) so - cries of "farmers, farmers!" notwithstanding - it always seems a little backwards of me when people try and state that breaking the PCU is actually meaningless.

I remember a Sunday afternoon in early 2004 when we broke the 3K level. Then every Sunday thereafter broke it again until somewhere around 10K. We came here because Earth & Beyond shut down, since of course SWG sucked so bad. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- PROPOSAL: Chaos Incarnate's Face MMORPG: Many Men Online Role Playing Girls |

That is nothing to be smiling about mr explorer. Perhaps ccp should start focusing on removing lag then adding players.
