I was preparing for this before the Orca came out!
It has become apparent that CCP didnt think about the ramifications of an ORCA backed up by a dozen Hulks or even half a dozen Hulks.... therefore most belts are getting stripped within an hour or 2 of downtime each day!
This has been noticed in Empire and there has been wars started due to lack of mineability in many locations!
What im saying is we WILL have to go to low sec for mining any decent stuff if CCP dont do something out it in future!
Is anybody in areas stripped to dust? Is anybody in a war due to a lack of mineability? Do you use multiple Orca's in your corp? How do you feel about travelling 15+ jumps in a Hulk to start mining? Would you like to see more belts in any particular location?
If you have any comments then please voice them as i'd like a CCP guy to speak here aswell!?!
Thanks for reading! |

Go do missions. Many missions have ore in unlimited quataties. When the ore runs out - spawn a new mission.... |

If you only find dust you clearly are in the wrong location, I've seen filled belts only 2-3 jumps away from large market hubs (and I cleaned one of them systems too ) |

Isnt the ore classed as mission ore and is deleted after the mission ends but also the ore cant be sold on market? |

There's some very specific types of ore that are like that, but many missions include normal ores are part of the scenery of the mission. Other missions like Downing the Omber, erm Slavers, has something like 400,000 minable Omber available in the mission area if you don't turn in the mission, allowing you to mine that each day for the week you have the mission. |

Let's say they doubled the number of belts/roids in every high-sec system.
This would mean that, instead of 2 hours after downtime all belts were clear - they'd be clear at 4 hours.
It would also mean that low end minerals would become worth (roughly) half as much. So, people who live in high traffic systems would still have nothing to mine 19 hours of the day - and they'd have to mine twice as much of the "unfindable" belts to make what they're currently making.
The real solution - get off the beaten track. I know of at least 3 highsec systems, off the top of my head, where I can always find belts in full spawn even right before downtime. Or, as suggested above, go with the real fix - mission mining. |

So where does one find such a mission? |

I see all this whin - sorry, complaining about the lack of chunky belts and I poke my head ingame and see a different story. I realise that since the introduction of Orca class ships and the increased availability of hulks that the belts will take a huge hit.
I also think that players are too accustomed to pointing in a random direction, right clicking and selecting a belt without looking in the knowledge that this will result in warping to a healthy belt full of roids that just sit there waiting to be mined.
"You're not a miner so you will say that..." I am a miner. Don't bother

This could very well be intentional.
It may be a good idea. May cause more people to band together and head to low and 0.0.
I think thats a pretty good thing. |

"Mining" missions - "Go mine x amount of y mineral" are of this style. Many combat missions frequently have MASSIVE amounts of normal minerals in them, which is what people are recommending you go after. |

I agree with you on that mate! 0.0 makes things better but at a risk still! High sec generally has no risk! |

I understand your point there. But dont you find that a little bit of risk livens up mining somewhat? its good to have to keep your guard up. Makes people mine with protection/hired guns etc etc and so on. I think maybe if it does go that way we will see more "carebears" moving in to lower sec with friends to protect them. Would make for some great new powerblock potentials i think.
And it would leave the empire systems to the players who are still finding their feet. |

1)Sell the Hulk 2)Buy a Retriever/Covetor 3)??? 4)Profit!
Step 3 may or may not involve the loss of the tech 1 barge so i have left it to the discretion of the player it should however, be easily replaceable with the money from a Hulk |

Sound good to me, now there is competition and a strategic element to being the most numerous in high sec, both on industry adn militarty.
+1 to CCP for this :) |

TYes, but to offset the risk of losing a hulk, have some friends with you. Big muscular friends. Give them a percentage of the profit you get from mining.
If you are mining in low sec= more valuable ore etc.

I'm no miner, when I have to mine with my alt, he has no troubles finding belts that are untapped in empire. As someone said, you just need to get off the beaten track- just look at the maps provided and find a quiet spot.

Alt posting so people don't drop locator agents all over my head.
There's these 2 systems I mine in daily, that every day when I warp to any belt there is maybe one or two base level roids, a good 90% of the roids are all 10% ore and the rest is all 5% ore.
Dense Veld x 750,000 x 11 belts anyone?
Oh, and I've seen someone besides my toons in local only 2 or 3 times since I've found teh place.
It's empire!

****ing finally, god damn. There is literally nothing bad that will happen because of this, except a few people whining. Everyone else benefits:
1. more targets for PvPers 2. more resources for builders 3. lower prices all around for everyone
Although this is ignoring the fact that every High Sec system I've flown to the belts in lately has had a ton of asteroids sitting unmined. Mine adjacent to trade hubs, not in them, and you'll find there's plenty of rocks left. You've got freighters for moving bulk ore a couple jumps to somewhere where you can sell it.

There are a lot of "empty belts out in empire, usually in the very busy systems, there are also a lot of belts with a lot of ore in high sec usualy in systems with less people in them (use the map and work it out)
Then there is low sec and 0.0 lots of rocks there huge once and they never get mined out because there is never enough people to mine them all away. Problem being you have to risk somethings to be able to mine there... so what? Make a deal with one of the local 0.0 alliances and they will most likely let you mine without bugging you even helping you out by killing the belt rats should they show up. Things are not that difficult all you need to do is accept that just like in real life you can't just walk out the door cross the street and pick up your lunch money every morning. You actually have to work for it.
Yes I mine and run missions in high sec at the moment, but low sec and 0.0 are also places I have spend quite a bit of time in the past. (need some money and high sec is better for making money with limited time available each day) |
