Is there a special reason, why there are only 3 diffrent sizes for ship in overview, small middle and big ? A destroyer looks like a command ship, a battleship like a titan, why can't there be few more symbols to distinguish shiptypes ? Maybe phat squares for capitlas, or a cross or a dot in the middle of the square for t2 ships, nothing big, just somthing to see what type of ship it is without having to klick on it or open an extra column.

I'm so happy that it works at all.
I remember that they needed 13-15 patches to get wrecks displayed correctly.

While that might be nice, there is enough variety in rats that having special brackets for each and every type would become cumbersome and lag-inducing in short order. Also, what do you propose we do about Drone rats? Those come in all sizes, but none of them except BS sized ones are based on standard ship designs. So yet ANOTHER entirely new set of brackets.
No, the small - medium - large paradigm works well. If you need more info, use the zoom function or your overview. Fix the Wardec System! |

Only problem I've ever had is Destroyers looking like frigates on mine, not command ships, aswell as Cruisers and Battlecruisers looking the same if not looking carefully.
But I hardly see this sort of thing a very big priority. No complaints here.
Oh also, I'm going to second what Bish Ouenen said.

I was talking about player ships, rats have diffrent signs anyways, but i don't think this will create extra lag. You can open columns for the size of the target, it's speed, angular velocity etc., if at all this would create more lag than showing diffrent signs imho. I'm not asking for detailed signs, just a phat square instead of a thin if the ship is bigger. Or the bigger the ship, the larger the square, this would also be intuitive and not create extra mess, while making things clear, you could see at a glance that you are fighting against a fleet of destroyers/cruisers instead of battlecruisers and commandships.

There were no Destroyers or Battlecruisers in the early versions of Eve, which is probably part of the reason why these classes don't get an individual size icon. That, and given the available size of the overview box for object icons it'd be sort of hard to differentiate between five different sub-capital classes.
But the ship class column is your friend. Keep the icon column, class column, distance column, and name columns enabled. Drop everything else.

i'm really for having the overview and hud be more useful, stuff like unique ship icons for each ship class
i'm hoping it's in the interface rewrite. |
