Not sure that is fact. The Yahoo ad, e.g., says "250,000 people", not subscribers. The most players online at any one time has been about 50,000. Even taking various timezones into account, there would be more than 50,000 on at one time if there were 250,000 active subscribers. If you take 2-3 characters for most players on one account, and many players having more than one account (now 6-9 characters, etc. for one subscriber), the math some have used here for income is not accurate.
Why do we speculate on private matters re CCP's financials anyway? They are not a public company so accurate stats are just speculations. Regardless, this is a terrific game, it has me hooked, and I look forward to future developments as CCP has some really neat stuff on the drawing boards for EVE. For those interested, expand "Patch Notes", two links below "Forums". CCP will survive if player count holds steady or grows, no matter what happens to Iceland.

each account is registered as a person CCP has no way of knowing if you have multiple account unless they go and check , off the surpface it is easier to say 250k people but it more than likely there are almost 300k people and that figure it probably going to rise with the box expansion due out so retailers can grab in on the action

Just to make clear, the 45% refers to the increase of the previous unemployment rate wich was already low, I hate percentages and wordgames in newsreporting :-(

This would be the time to move to iceland, as long as your work does not depend on iceland (such as mine). Move there while everything is cheap. If I could pick up and go right now, I would. Maybe in the near future, though... |

3.75 million dollars a month... if they were going bankrupt i dont know where all that money would be going, especially for a relatively small company.
do you know anything how a business works. First off all they really take is credit card. Most Credit card companys take 2 to 3% So 3% of 3.75mil is 11,250,000, just on credit card fees for them, not to mention all the other stuff i wont get into detail but that 15 bucks there seeing about 4-5 of it i bet. |

It seems the Ferogell Conspiracy runs deeper than CCP. Not only has it destablized New Eden's economy. But it is crashed Icelands as well. Damn those hackzorz...

Over 300 devs, thats pretty damn much for a MMO. SWG has a skeleton team of about 10-15 devs.
It's not 300 devs, look at your ingame info tab on the esc menu to see who the devs are. Most of those 300 people are only there to copy/paste "our logs show nothing" into the petition response system. ;-)
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

Originally by: Silver Night The ISK being weak actually puts CCP in a better position. Virtually all of their revenue is in the stronger dollar and euro while much of their expenses are in the ISK. They are probably, in an absolute sense, making more money now, particularly basing from Iceland.
That's short-sighted since: * Iceland imports most goods and those things are getting more expensive (they won't eat rotten shark every day you know) * paychecks are probably in ISK (out of game ones), so the purchase power of the employees is going to suffer unless CCP compensates them for the loss of value
You forget that this is Iceland, a modern and formerly very rich country, not some 3rd world cheap labor country where people don't know any better and are happy if they can produce stuff at competitive prices.

What about Bjork?
Originally by: Verite Rendition
Originally by: Mecinia Lua CCP is a multinational corp.
It has offices in England, United States, China in addition to Iceland.
It's hard to know how their Icelandic employees have been affected. It would depend on how easily they can change euros and dollars for krona.
However considering that all monies are paid in euro or dollars it is probably that the main company is well enough off. I'm sure they lost some money in the Icelandic bank failures but overall they are probably in good shape compared to most Icelanders.
This is going way off topic, but it bears mentioning that previously there were problems with converting USD and EUR to Krona, as the national banking system was basically restricting such conversion to keep the ISK from completely crashing. AFAIK CCP (along with others) *****ed, and the government relented. I haven't heard any stories as of late, so I can only assume that everything is once again flowing well in the CCP accounting department.
And although people do like to overestimate the importance of CCP to Iceland (<50mil USD/year in revenue, and that doesn't all come home) they are one of only a small number of non-seafood companies that are bringing money in to the country. Many of the Icelandic businesses are either banking (which went bust), local services (which are bust because no one has any money) or Iceland's historic seafood business. They're not nearly big enough to make the government bend to their will, but they're on the short-list of Icelandic multi-national companies that export something other than seafood, which is of great interest to the government.
Oh, and in case it hasn't been made clear, leaving Iceland was a threat that the government folded to. They let up on their restrictions against currency conversion (as mentioned above) which was the cause of CCP threatening to leave in the first place.
