I'll be following what you have to say. However, go in to detail how much time you invest per day and how many days a week.
These things always shock people, thinking that's alot really fast, when the truth could be this person has been sitting 24/7 clicking 0.01 isk updates on 1500 orders, where the person at awe of your progress is updating 10 orders once per day a few days a week.
I'm just saying, as little exaggerating (or rounding numbers) and as much facts as possible and I'll stay a happy panda checking out your blog with interest <3 |

I turned my 0 isk wealth into 1 billion isk in just over 6 weeks. <--- from your blog.
Butterfingers, you seemed to of dropped 2 weeks.
Plus you start with 5k ISK, otherwise you would of done rather well trading with 0 ISK and turning it into 1b.
My 5 week old Jita trading toon is up to 1.1b (liquid isk + stock) trading from his 5k inheritence, he has 55074 SP and I trade with him for a few hours at a time on a Saturday and Sunday.
Its doable.
That side, people love to read but I'd suggest not fabricating things, you'll only get found out.

Congrats on your first bil!
But what I would like to say is, everybody starts with 0 isk and most people also with 0 experience. So you're not an exception on that. Making a bil in that ammount of time, not many people will achieve that, most of them need more time to make their first billion. so props for that
What's been said before, you should tell people how much time you've put into trading.
I can make a bil on a single day if I want, but that would mean I have to invest some time. Since time is money, how much time did you invest for your first bil??
Cheers,
LD

Hey guys,
Thanks for following my blog and for the advice, suggestions and criticism. Before I reply to you all I just wanted to wish you all a Happy 4 - 20 (April 20th). I hope you have a great day and some of you Pause for the Cause.
To be honest I think none of us would really care if we turned over our first billion in 4 or 6 weeks.I do mention that it was just over 4 weeks which gives me some leeway. But you are right.
I am not here to trick anybody just here to pass on my experiences and how I achieved said results.
Yes you start with 5000 isk and you make about 3 - 5 million from the tutorial missions. I am assuming new players are smart enough to run through them otherwise you have no clue about the game anyway and all the trading knowledge in the world won't help you undock from the station without having done the tutorials.
As I work fulltime in real life my time commitment to the trading was about 1 - 3 hours per day with obviously some marathon-ing done on weekends. This means new guys will definitely be able to make this money much quicker than me. And i hope they do. I am not claiming to be an expert as there are always things we need to learn. This should get you under way though. Also while playing those 1 -3 hrs a day I was also running some missions on the side to increase my standing with Caldari Navy in order to get the Brokerage Fees down. I have posted another blog update up, which talks all about taxes and skills one should train.
Cedo Nulli, I am not sure what you are trying to get at? You are welcome to look me up in-game if you do not believe my age, however as I said above I am not here to trick people but rather to help them. I would welcome more traders to the industry as it will make the market more competitive and push those out who aren't as serious. Maybe it will also teach some people not to undercut prices by 20,000.00 isk when 0.01 will have the same result.
Dennmoth I will give you as much detail as possible without putting people to sleep. As it stands I am still only able to have 53 orders up at any one time so I am certainly no wholesaler or tycoon. <-- although I am a couple of days off Wholesaler.
Stigman - Good work!! I hope new players will read your comment and know that I am not fabricating my results but rather that I have been almost slow in having made my money.
Kara - Yes hard work some times. It does get old quite quickly having to change your 0.01's continually but when you find a good item to trade, motivation returns quickly.
Leana - True, most people start with no experience and/or money but with the current buddy system we have 1 day old recruits in our corp worth more than 400 million. I just wanted to make sure people knew that I did not have an unfair advantage in that sense. Since my first 400 million took infinitely longer than my second 400.
Thanks again for reading my blog. I hope it has helped some of you.

helps a lot though, imho, that if you have help and people tell you what to trade and what not to trade then you can speed the whole process up. Like in real life a Mentor is key http://420enterprises.weebly.com/ |

I had a look. It's good advice. Station trade ammo, play the 0.01 isk game. Probably quite time consuming to make so much so quickly. Also it tops out. When you have < 1 billion capital it's quite a good return, later on it's much harder to turn over all your capital fast enough. It's probably about time to diversify into more expensive things.
I'd also add that these last 6 weeks have been a brilliant time to play the market. The price of just about everything has doubled and is set to double again. |

Going along with your point of "scale".
I remember doubling my net worth in 1-2 days a few times, but not where near 1bil in 6 weeks. I spent too much time playing around in the game, getting a feel for mining/missioning.
This is the second "I made my first N billion in N weeks" post. One of them that I read talked about how they recommend flipping ammo. That works great for that first bill, which I guess all they're really trying to accomplish, but it becomes a waste of time shortly after.
I find I tend to spread my orders, then when I eventually find certain Item(s) that have a consistent turn over, I start to prune back orders that aren't filling as regularly and I start concentrating my orders into those better moving items.
I keep dumping isk into said items until it starts to platue. At this point I've made quite a bit, so I start spreading my orders whiling keeping a healthy balance on my newly found better moving items.
Rinse and repeat.
I don't know the game that well, so I wasn't able to jump in and have a good idea on what to start trading, so I naturally fell into this pattern of Spread(discovery)->Prune+Focus->Repeat
I favor higher revenue items with regular turn over, even if not high-volume. |

Hey guys,
Yes I agree your income plateaus after a while.
As i said in my blog this isn't a guide on how to do it but merely how I did it. I have significantly stepped up my operations since so the advise: Ok you may now stop trading ammo is on the horizon.
The release of this blog will be controlled so that I make sure I cover everything, new and old players will need to know to follow the path I took.

This.
Making 1 billion off market trading in 6 weeks isn't that hard. I remember I hit about 800m within that basic period of time, just using early ISK from L1 missions and loot, and that's because I was doing other stuff too. I believe the first thing I set up a buy order for was a +3 implant, and when it filled I was so excited and scared that I'd end up losing money on the deal. But then I put it up for sale and it sold within maybe an hour for a nice profit. After that, I was on my way. I've been investing from the same pool of money (though on a different character than before) ever since. |

Your explanation of the margin trading skill is convoluted and misleading - you don't explain properly how it works (how does it scale with skill level, what happens when a buy order is only filled partially, what happens if I modify the order, what happens if there is not enough money in your wallet to cover the order), you don't explain how to make creative use of the skill (uncovered buy orders with min quantity) and you don't use your own experience to provide any advice to the newbie who is unsure whether to "overbook" his wallet by the factor 2 or 10.
Instead you spout useless and sensationalist crap about guaranteeing me to double my isk (I ahve 5b liquid right now, who do I have to send it to?) which is then corrected to "doubling your earnings potential (maybe) if you didn't already know about margin trading and have around 50m ISK to invest"
The three trading suggestions seem to be completely random - no explanation as to why I should trade them and no obvious characteristics that set them apart from any other items. Maybe you acquired some stock of them that you want to unload? that's the best guess I could come up with...
In general any newbie is better served reading the guides in the sticky or simply scanning the relevant evelopedia pages for info. |
