So I have 90.5% refine for ores. I also have 0% taken out by the NPC corp as I have high standings. So to get a better yield for Veld., I get the veld processing skill as each level reduces waste by 2%. I apply skill points to quickly get it to lvl 2 and then check to see what my refine for veld is. Hmmm...still 90.5%. So my question is, "what happened to the additional 4% less waste" I should of got with veld processing to lvl 2? |

OK, still a bit confused. Got Refinery to lvl 5 and then started refinery efficiency. Prior to skilling RE I had a set amount of veldspar that refined to 4,317,600. After skilling RE to lvl 4 and the net yield going from 91.25% to 97.85% with NPC station taking 0%, I still get the 4,317.600 actual yield. Something seems seriously screwed up? If net yield increases should not the actual amount increase? |

The net yield number at the top right of the reprocessing window is meaningless, as it doesn't take into consideration material skills. With material skills you are over 100%, but you cannot get more than a perfect refine.
Yield % = MINIMUM(100%, or station_facilities + reprocessing_base * (1 + refining_skill * 2%) * (1 + refinery_efficiency_skill * 4%) * (1 + material_skill * 5%))
station_facilities = 50% at a decent NPC station reprocessing_base = 37.5% for NPC stations and outposts |

TY. So what you are saying is one reaches a perfect refine without having to skill up RE to do so. With My other skills such as refining and veldspar processsing, I was already at a 100% refine with Veldspar, it was just the yield indicator was not showing it as such. |

The only reasons to train Refinery Efficiency 5:
* You want to refine Arkonor, Bistot, Crokite, Mercoxit, scrap, or ice perfectly. * You want to mine Arkonor, Bistot, Crokite, or Mercoxit with T2 crystals. * You want to compress Arkonor, Bistot, Crokite, Mercoxit, or ice with a Rorqual. * You want to refine at less than 50% facilities. * You don't want to train any material skills, and will use a 2% refining implant to refine everything perfectly (including ore, ice, scrap, drone parts, etc.) at 50% stations. |
