The Church v. Rude
Mindstar please dont say "everyone's happy" or "outcome wasn't effected" over the broadcast when that match was totally botched, I ordered our team to disengage to wait for GM response of whether or not we were going to reset, DQ or what have you. If you want to comment on a screwup fine, but dont slander us over the airwaves like that. The match should have been halted, and points docked or the teams reset accordingly. I'm not whining about the match screw up, but dont make false statements of ifs/buts/wouldas/shouldas/couldas to 2000 players when that match could have gone either way without the screw up countdown.
[20:19:22] CCP Claw > 1 minute remaining until the game begins in Arena 1 [20:20:12] CCP Claw > 10 seconds until game starts in Arena 2
the teams are in arena 1
To the Church, wish we could have had a good fight, I know you guys would have preferred it.

I agree it was a wierd start, first we (church team) didn't lock/engage, then we realized you had so we did anyway but at the same time you stopped. So really I think it was a bit even both teams lost 10 secs somewhere around the beginning and took some casualties because of it.
Well played guys was in the end a good fight.

Firstly gf to the RUDE allience team, i wish we didnt have that confusing **** by the gm's cound down.
When we saw the coundown for the 2nd arena, we said no one engage or target; as soon as the word was given, there was afew seconds of confusion for the both teams. Then RUDE team's griffens targetted my rook and had a jamming cycle. then i interupted our fc who was repeating "no one engage anything till the **** get sorted" and said "they are jamming/engaging me so the fight is started" But unfortinutly we ve already lost out kitsune..
Again gf to RUDE allience guys, good luck for the rest, and i hope ccp wont fail again...

If it's okay to clarify:
I dropped sentry drones but then went back to scoop them, a kitsune jammed me, and that aggro'd my drones and he got popped. I'm sure that contributed to making the Church team feel we'd all started.
But not long before the match started we'd been conversing on vent and it was discussed about how a team had earlier today started firing when the wrong match was called, had killed two opponents and then been disqualified. So when this happened we were panicking and discussing about what we should do.
I'm sure church was doing the same.
It isn't that "everyone's happy" or "the outcome wasn't affected". It is that it doesn't seem there is any way to correct it so we didn't want to fuss about it. This thread, and this post, is just an objection to CCP shrugging off their responsibility in the matter as though nothing happened.

Edited by: Kil2 on 25/01/2009 21:37:56 for what its worth i was the one making comments during the broadcast and i only did it because theres 4000 people listening and it effected what was happening on the field.
i prefaced my comments by saying i have no idea whats going on completely and i shouldnt be taken too seriously.
i did feel it was necessary to communicate something, and by saying that it had been resolved i meant to say that there wasnt going to be any kind of restart/DQ etc.
but again none of this directly from claw/mindstar.

Kil2 apology accepted, I had thought it was Mindstar's voice, and that had seriously irked me.
I think all parties agree it was botched. ISD's reporting is still a bit questionable. But whatever, someone please lock the thread so it doesn't become a troll fest.

It was a pleasure to be involved in the tournament and to be in combat with studs like CHURCH. The confusion was disappointing and so was the loss however I feel the team participation and team biulding is more important in the long run. RUDE is a newer alliance run by, and with, a fine bunch of people.
Kudos to CHURCH. A fine job.
I was more irked by commentators refering to us a "Grab Bag Alliance" and camera ships (pilots) talking in local about how CHURCH was going to win in the midst of battle.
We will meet again an later rounds of that I have no doubt CHURCH. :)

Roger that, Kil2. Your job is, of course, to communicate something. Certainly it is impossible to always know everything that is going on at any moment, even when there is no mixup. I think that all I'm looking for is that some of the description be clarified in the minds of listeners. We did not pre-emptively strike at Church. We were not unilaterally firing away.
There was much confusion, it affected both sides. Of course we are not happy, but we don't know what would have happened if all had gone right so there is no point in saying, "I never got to..." as those same claims would be stated on both sides.
The Church guys were fine. What comments they made were obviously because they were just as (or more so) surprised/confused/concerned as we were. They had a nice set up, by the way. Looked good.
That would have been a great match, I think, to be in for real.

May we fight again :)

I made a mistake in the countdown. Unfortunately I am human and mistakes happen.
I spoke to both team captains after the game and explained my thoughts on the situation; that the outcome of the match did not seem to be affected as the main issues were actually experienced by The Church who clearly moved after the RUDE team did for the most part. I would not presume to say that the match was not affected for both teams, however both team captains did agree with my assessment of the game and both wished eachother good luck in future games. So the result was satisfactory if not perfect.

Well, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt on that.
It's no problem, really, stuff happens. I'm sure none on either side (and yourself) wanted an error, but as you say, mistakes happen. It's just that with the whole game watching we feel a bit self conscious about it and wanted people to know we weren't out there to cheat.
For our side, I'm sure the error would not have affected us as much had we not just minutes before been discussing DQ based on a team firing when a different arena match was called. Just unfortunate. We look forward to a match next week and are hoping we'll be able to be back next year as well.

Yet, the mistake with our match nothing was done about, at least nothing was done that would effect our match. |

Unfortunately i disagree with the actions taken ...
honest truth ccp should of stopped the fight completely even knowning that the teams were confused..
ccp should of rescheduled the fight...
gf to the church...
even tho the actions taken i still disagree with the outcome... Aswell Rude alliance shouldnt have been taken for granted... eve is based on player skillpoints... and in the tournament any alliance has the chance to prove itself even if its new... Ive personally fought The Church members in tranquility.. not when i was in rude alliance.. and just like any char in eve, even if their 05 chars... any char in eve can be killed ; its called strategy...
