From what I have been reading over on MD - miners never bothered mining Mercoxit was it was not worth the effort? - Was this the case in general?

Does did/does Mercoxit give a much lower isk/h than the ABCs?
PS I know about this item ( Opulent Compond) which I think made up about 40% of Morphite supply |

PS I know about this item ( Opulent Compond) which I think made up about 40% of Morphite supply I think your numbers are a little off, Drone Regins supplied about 80% of the morphite, 15% came from Providence, and 5% from the rest of 0.0. Gunmining was to efficient, and depressed the high end mineral market
Mercoxit only spawns in the lowest trusec systems, and only one ship can efficiently mine it. Given the prevalence of T2 in all aspects of EVE life, I expect a "gold rush" on all the ABCM ores. The only caveat I can see is if the price of high end ore does not make a miner the equivalent of what someone running anomalies makes, then mining in 0.0 will still not be "worth it"
Mercoxit was worth mining before the drone regions, and will be again after, but expect it to rise in price to make a Skiff pilot around 80-100 mil/hour You've got to remember that these are just simple miners. These are people of the land. The common clay of New Eden. You know... morons. |

It wasn't. After drone nerf it will be near ABC for the reasons above. You can get it in industry upgraded systems though, through spawned belts. Maximze your Industry Potential! - Get EVE Isk per Hour! |

Getting an industrial upgrade can make any 0.0 system spawn ABCM, It wouldn't surprise me that CCP will look into that in the future, like they did with the Cosmic Anomalies.
Mercoxit mining, requires a specific skill set that takes a long time to train. Worth it to train for specifically, no, worth it to train after you have a perfect hulk pilot, and perfect refining skills already, yes. You've got to remember that these are just simple miners. These are people of the land. The common clay of New Eden. You know... morons. |

this is false. as someone else mentioned, you can also gain access to it through grav sites in an upgraded system. furthermore, if you're mining mercoxit in a skiff, you're doing it wrong. there's absolutely no reason to mine in a skiff. the only bonus the skiff receives is a reduction in the gas cloud effect, which can easily be mitigated by not sitting on top of the roid while mining. the hulk at 10km outmines the skiff on mercoxit hands down.
the m3 of ore before refine made it unattractive in the age of gunmining. as you get up in the ABC's it takes more ore to receive less refined mineral; mercoxit was at the top of this list. i suspect people will return to this in droves once the price rise a bit more. |

That silly "60% bonus to Mercoxit Mining Crystal yield multiplier per level" makes absolutely no difference what-so-ever. |

i stand corrected, however, the 60% bonus at lvl 5 is 300% which is equal to the three hulks lazers before any bonuses are applied to the hulk. not to mention you have a much smaller tank and cargohold to deal with. |

300% bonus on top of the base of 100%, giving it the effective mining capacity of 4 deep core strip miners + the mining barge bonus. A skiff with exhumers IV should pull in slightly more mercoxit than a hulk, and noticably less with exhumers III. |

When I last had the opportunity to mine Mercoxit in w-space, mining Pyroxeres was more profitable.
It has risen by a factor of at least 5 since then. |

IPH is giving me 85 mil an hour with a maxxed Skiff. Max hulk gets about 80mil an hour in Arknor, 70 mil an hour for mercoxit.

Driftfire wrote:But from what I understand ftom all this is Mercoxit is still a worthless junk ore... Not quite worthless, Consider this; - All T2 ships and modules must be manufactured by players. - All T2 ships and modules require morphite - Currently 80% of the needed morphite comes from Dorne POO - When drone POO is removed the only source for morphite will be Mercoxit and looted T2 modules, Basically 90% of the morphite will then come from mercoxit
Conclusion; Once drone POO is removed Mercoxit will be one of the most valuable ores in the game. In the early days of T2 you could make easily 160 mil per hour mining mercoxite, I doubt it will ever reach that again but I expect it will soon become the most valuable ore, even higher than A,B,C,s. |

Morphite is in everything T2. There is litteraly nothing that is Tech 2 that doesn't have Morphite in it.
Drone poo really screwed the highend ore market. Prices on higend ore was cut down to only 25% of what the were pre Drone Regions, making mining one of the least profitable ventures in eve. 0.0 alliances and corporations abandoned mining as a profession, why mine when you can kill rats and make more ISK?
Considering that the prices now are all pure speculation, the true price won't be untill current stock has diminished after the removal of Drone poo, and only a few 0.0 corps and alliance even have miners in them any more, I expect things will get really wild as far as highend ores are concernd.
