Tonight I got my first ever non-DED escalation from a Blood Provisional Outpost. After taking me through 3 stages spread across a wide area of lowsec, I finally got to the last area. Upon warping to the first gate, I destroyed the obligatory Dark Blood cruiser, tractored the wreck close, and scooped the loot. Unfortunately I couldn't tank this first group and had to warp out. I accidentally warped through the acceleration gate instead of another overview object. I warped into the second room, and behold! Hodura Amaba, a 1 million bounty cruiser, the deadspace overseer I had been looking for.
Then the strange happened: he disappeared! As soon as I attempted to lock him, he warped out. Hoping that he was just hiding, I cleared the other waves that appeared in the room, but he never returned. No more escalations, and the current expedition disappeared from my overview. I tried warping back and forth between the two rooms but no avail.
My question is the following: Is this normal? Is there a chance that the deadspace loot dropping overseer will be spooked and leave because I did things the wrong way, or does this sound like a bug? |

i have had this happen to me as well.
some escalations "fail". for example, you destroy all the structures per the journal and it nothing drops or happens. or you warp into the last room and it says something along the lines of "x overseer is not here, we must have just missed him" and it fails at that point. the latter is what sounds like happened to you. it happens. but at least you got to see your guy warp out :)

Sometimes if you warp out of expeditions they will despawn. Im suprised any ships stayed. Most the time you have 1 shot at these things... In some cases tho in a final escalation if there is a repping structure or something, IE not deadspace, it will remain static.

I guess I can't complain really, 100m+ in faction modules from the previous parts, and one of those epic "Up all night playing EVE" moments that I'll remember for a long, long time.
I'll use the proceeds to buy some more rigs for my exploration combat ship, maybe I'll be able to tank the enemies next time. |

I happen to have run this expedition recently. It started in lowsec and only the (presumeably) last escalation lead me into unclaimed 0.0 - which took me a while to reach. Damn gatecamps ...
Anyways, so after 2 days of waiting (visited the site in a covops to make sure it stays) for an opportunity to slip through the camp I arrived at the site. Shot the overseer (which warped off for you?) and it dropped an empty wreck. Tough luck or maybe I just shot something that wasn't meant to die since overseers should at least drop something, right? The expedition ended there...

Many escalations feature a running overseer, who leads you on a merry chase throughout the course of the expedition. Usually you will be sent on to the next stage of the escalation when they run; of course, sometimes the random number generator hates you and the expedition dead ends.

...Normaly without telling you Somtimes, you just missed that you where suposed to fly towards some sort of competly abitrary structure of wich there was a identical one on the previus stage that didden't require any intreaction (and by intreaction, i mean accidently going to the right place around it) to trigger it
Escalation in general is horribly poorly designed :D |
