Am I missing something here?
When ever I invite someone to conversation, I have to ask their permission, but other players seem to be able to start a conversation with me without warning.
How? |

if you added them to your friend list with positive standing it automatically opens chat, I know it's silly and makes no sense but EVE is made by CCP and they rarely use logic. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

No, that can't be it.
I've been contacted by strangers and by people with terrible standing (of my own choosing) in this fashion. |

Actually, did a quick check, it's even worse than i stated. This is what I found:
- If you give someone ANY standing be it terrible, neutral or positive means he can start convo without your permission. That's CCP "excellence" right there. - it's based on personal standing not corp, regardless of who set the standing - I have found no other way to force it
So either you have set standing to these folks, whatever standing that may be, or perhaps you were typing and hit enter which (due to CCP's amazing UI coding) messes with the acceptance window or it's CCP spais checking if you're botting your miners. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Hello Kenneth Skybound
If the both of you that tested this out could file a Bug Report on this that would be great.
How to report a Bug: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Bug_reporting
You can submit a bug report IG by going to F12(Help) > Bug Report(Bottom) or by doing so through the website https://bugs.eveonline.com
I am thinking that it could be a bug when they switched over to the new system but only a Bug Report you would be able to find out as our ISD:BH team would look into it.
I hope this answers your question.
If you have any other question's don't hesitate to contact me in-game.
Fly safe o/ Don't hesitate to contact me in-game I answer Eve mails I recieve as soon as I'm able to. ISD Athechu Commander ISD STAR (Support Training and Resources) |

Ther positive one has been around since I can remember, don't know if that's a bug but if it's not it should be. JUST because I decide to add someone with a positive standing doesn't mean I'll want to accept convos without confirmation. The negative bit I didn't check earlier because I tend to go into "no invite" mode when at war.
Sure I'll BR it but not holding my hopes up, over the years BRing hasn't shown to be a useful thing to do. I'll update this thread with the BH response when I get it. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Does not matter what status I add people to. If he's there he can convo me anytime without a poppup. Don't really care though if people convo me.
I do believe there should be a setting that allowes you to add people on who can convo you without permission. Since I am afk alot I get like 10 convo or more with people talking. Then going, HELLO? Hello..... are you there? I'm not a Pirate, I'm a Terrorist.

It really gets boring to always find you're right about things... Here's the answer I just got:
Quote:Thank you for your bugreport titled: setting standing removes chat invite confirmation
The problem you have described is an intended game feature or function, and not a bug.
Do note that I got the same lol-reply back when I bug reported the Gäó issue after Punkturis asked me to do so, which got fixed 2 months later. CCP QA is still crap, it has always been crap and it will, presumably, remain crap. Sorry for ranting. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

The two suggestions above are workarounds, admittedly necessary ones but still. The "no confirmation window" seems to have evolved from a bug to a feature (If I have to believe the BH reply, which I tend not to).
- setting CSPA very high pisses off friends (setting ANY CSPA means people simply won't invite you to fleets) - setting "no unknowns" is also not handy, I talk to a lot of people and they contact me quite often. Why would I want to lose that option?
It's an issue that needs to be resolved and to quote JC: "how hard can it be?" Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

You do know that:
1.) you can just close conversations that someone opened to you or just plain ignore them. 2.) if people repeat the thing, block them, this means they can't contact you in game anymore.

Are you sure you just haven't messed about with your settings and forgot about it? Open evemail and go into settings (little box in the top left corner), I'd give you more details what to look for but dont have the client open atm. |

It seems the reason it was happening was because I had added people or their corporations - for good, neutral or bad - and this allowed them to make communication.
I'll go with J'Poll's idea. |
