What Valkerias said I wrote:Getting mad because a promise made to you was broken and then YOU were yelled at because someone else is breaking the toy YOU were promised is childish. GROW UP AND QUIT WHINING, YEESH!
If you can find me a legitimate definition of the term "broken promise" which allows for a promise to have been broken before it's due to be honoured, I will personally buy you sixty PLEX*. The ACTUAL promise is that we'll be getting our access to DUST sometime during the next few weeks. See update 2 in this linked article.
And... "breaking"? Seriously? We're not talking about a pretty glitter fairy doll here that your little sister decided to give an impromptu haircut here. How the hell can it be broken by somebody getting to play a version that's actually an older build than the one at Fanfest before you get to come along and try out a more up-to-date version?

I believe the lady on the first page noted that the game is probably DOA anyway, because some video had gotten 8 views?
I don't care enough about DUST to go find the video and confirm her hypothesis, but I will remind you guys this......
You are getting pretty excited about a console shooter. Those things have a shelflife of about 6 months at most. Really. You might want to check yourself before you wreck yourself..... emotionally when DUST flops like a dead whale at a Maori whaling ceremony.
Honestly though, DUST is as bad an idea as Ambulation was. Just divorce yourself from it emotionally, and remember to undock your spaceship, and everything will be ok. |

Counterstrike, Team Fortress 2, Quake 3 Arena and Planetside spring to mind as exceptions to your rule. TF2 and Planetside especially can draw parallels to DUST, in that both have character persistence, though only one was a formal MMOFPS.
Don't think of DUST as a console shooter. think of it as a first-person perspective sandbox MMO. The big reason that console shooters fail is that after a while a new FOTM comes along, the servers start to become empty and it stops being worth playing the game.
I may be wrong, but I personally think that the added persistence and sandbox aspects of DUST, plus the fact that it's plugged in to EVE, is going to make a hell of a difference.

WiS isn't even a finished feature yet, and I personally actually quite like it so far, minimal functionality though it may have.
Was Trinity a bad idea, or a waste of development resources? No. EVE needs to expand in order to thrive, and it's this sort of attitude which is the main reason I'm not raking in billions from running a casino in Jita by now. If it's not FiS then a lot of people just don't want to know. It must be horrible to be so short-sighted. I have attempted for about ten minutes to hunt down a news article, dev blog, or advert regarding Fanfest that makes a claim close to that, and I can't find any.
Please direct me to where CCP made that promise.

Counter-Strike is on Xbox 360 and PS3, Stitcher appears to be mistaken about Planetside being on consoles though there was a time Sony implied Planetside 2 would be on the PS3 as well as PC. So as a response to Firnas, her claim is false as her proof is false, an FPS on a console can remain popular for a long time.
I don't know why people are crying about CCP putting this reminder up on the EVE Online forums. It's just a reminder to any EVE players who may have gotten into the group currently beta testing DUST, no harm in covering all the bases. |

@ CCP
You invited members of an organization, with a professed dedication to destroying your other game, to a beta. An organization which has made tangible efforts to carry out its goal both IRL and in game.
Now you are crying that people arent following your rules for being in beta.

Ghoest, you really need to learn the difference between "crying" and "reminding of a legal obligation". It's not like they're eating a pint of Ben and Jerry's while listening to Christina Aguilera and telling each other that people are big stupid mean doo-doo heads.
They're pointing out that if you're in the beta, that means that you have agreed to and signed an internationally legally binding document and that failure to honour that document will have appropriate consequences.
and AFAIK, "tangible efforts to destroy" something don't usually involve eager and active participation. An in-character blog and a video: http://verinsjournal.blogspot.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu1mbsgo738

The whining in this thread ... @CCP - next time you send out beta keys include trojan that installs as well to keep track of all texts containing the ttitle of the game in beta. That way only the guilty will be addressed.
Of course, then the whiners would blame their children, nephew or cats ... |

Sorry m8 but you got the wrong forum. This is Eve Online; not Dust 514.
And I think it is safe to say that your beta testers on the SONY network don't come on here to read about the NDA agreement.
Better to have given it to Eve players first so you could have linked it to their eve account and brought much more meaningful consequences. lol
Just food for thought.

I heard DUST514 is related to EVE, like it's done by the same company or something.

Problem with that logic is that, as far as we know, no EVE Online players actually have access to DUST 514 at this time as SONY handed out 5000 beta keys to random PSN members, not EVE Online players.
Statistically, Navigator might have gotten his message across to a couple EVE Online players that happen to be PSN members that happened to get beta keys. A few more hardcore Dust 514 fans that play EVE might have bought keys off of PSN members.
But the reality is, if you go out and look at the leaked videos (not that I would ever! ) it's very obvious that the people breaking the NDA are not EVE Online players. |

What difference does that make? EVE players will be getting access to DUST in the near future, and the NDA is going to be just as relevant then as it is right now. Except that apparently a lot of people were just like "BLABLABLASCROLLSCROLL YES I HAVE READ THE TERMS AND BLOODY CONDITIONS YAWN GO AWAY BORING LEGAL STUFF I WANT TO BLOW S**T UP"
Which, I mean sure there's a good argument for letting natural selection take its course here, but it's only fair to give people a second clear message and ultimatum about this stuff. Especially seeing as CCP don't want the NDA to be breached. The more different places and formats you present information in, the more likely it is that people will actually get the message.
