The really sad thing is that even though Happy assassinated his own team captain and then self-destructed, Frater STILL couldn't win the match. That is truly sad.

Beggers belief really. Must go down as one of the least successful assassinations ever. Hilarious though.

Eh, all we wanted to do was grease Issler. She got greased first, by a member of her own sad squad. What more could we ask for? We had no beef with the rest of her team - I think it's funny they still won. ;)

Quote: [16:47:07] Happy Joymaker > <br>You have been gagged by GM Zhainius until 2009.01.31 16:57:53. GM Zhainius's reason was: You were warned not to talk in local.
Yes. I was sent to kill Issler, whose alt is Denze. If you look, all my damage was done to Denze. After that, I turned off my hardeners and hit self destruct, although the other team choose to kill me instead of taking the chance. After that, I warped what I thought was to the exit in the system, but instead it was to the gate. Because of the large number of chat windows that appeared, I wasnÆt able to warp over to the exit in time before the GMÆs podded me (I missed their initial warning, and when I realized what was up, my pod was going down û lets hope CCP follows up and replaced the 300 odd mil in implants as they did say that there was no podding in the tournament, even if they are the ones that do it).
My corp, The Dead Parrot Shoppe, Inc., was the former leaders of Bruce. I was and am still a part of the corp leadership, even with Bruce having folded. Issler was in the Bruce Allinace, and made a lot of enemies at that time. Eventually, Issler did enough to actually be kicked out of the alliance. The last straw that got Issler removed was he bribed Huzzah Federation, our enemies at the time, to move a freighter around. But, that really was the last straw, there were many things that happened that drove the alliance to kicking Issler and her corp Tada-O out.
So, back to why: We, some the former leaders of Bruce just decided to try and see if it would work. Just for the fun of it. I sent Issler an evemail asking if I could join their team. No background check or anything, they just said yes. I kinda felt bad, as they are really a corp of industrialists mostly. So, I ended up giving them a lot of fitting advice and other good info, like how to reduce lag. I am also glad that it worked out for the Honda Accord at the end. I hear that they did win off of points after the fact, so, super grats to them. They had a big deficit, and they pulled it out.

The reasons behind it are known to the Honda Accord, who really are the ones that it matters to know to. How it happened is simple:
I sent Issler an evemail asking if I could join their team. No background check or anything, they just said yes. I kinda felt bad, as they are really a corp of industrialists mostly. So, I ended up giving them a lot of fitting advice and other good info, like how to reduce lag. I am also glad that it worked out for the Honda Accord at the end. I hear that they did win off of points after the fact, so, super grats to them. They had a big deficit, and they pulled it out.
So after our first match we discussed allowing new members to help the next team. When I got Happy's mail and thought back to our time in BRUCE and post BRUCE I couldn't think of any negative encounters and no other alliance member could think of any negative experiences with Happy so as to background check, seemed we had it handled. I am a trusting person and sometimes that can cause issues when you encounter folks with low character like the clowns that are some of the artifacts of BRUCE. I would point out that we put him in a dead corp with no roles and did watch him pretty carefully. At the most we felt he might leak our plans but felt the risk of that was minimal. Spies to help win a match we expected, spies to do something so silly we could not have imagined.
A sad panda epic fail assasination attempt as a result of a grudge held by a dead alliance? Wow! Well FOOM was named based on a Monti Python sketch so maybe humor was the goal.
As for advice, we had our plans in place before Happy joined and in fact our most amazing idea, the Blackbird of Counfoundment had nothing to do with Happy. So as to Happy's help in planning and fitting, it was minimal.
I hope that CCP does NOT reimburse. There are mentions in the rules about podding as a penalty. I also think these sorts of shenanigans are not in keeping with the spirit of the tourny. If the ghost of BRUCE had gripes they should have signed up as a team and settled it in the arena. Instead, in typical BRUCE epic fail fashion they manage the following:
- They raise the visibility of the match so this will be discussed for some time to come
- They make us look better at PvP than we could have ever expected
- They cost me nothing as my lost was insured
- They FAIL at assasination since I wasn't podded and Denz was a JC alt that wouldn't have mattered if they had
- And finally, they look like idiots for the worst assasination attempt ever
The only net negative is we likely don't advance and I never got to fire a shot this match. Well, there will be a next time.

Personally I think it was a pretty neat way of getting revenge, was a GHSC-esque assassination, infiltrate your team and then kill your fc.
When I was listening I thought you guys were intentionally killing off your own team to increase your chances of progressing. As if scores are tied who goes through is determined by how well their opponents scored.
Sounds like the other alliance failed to capitalize on the dramas and made a fair few mistakes.

Wow, that is a seriously good point! Happy could have easily helped this round, we would have advanced and the ACTUAL assasination could have occured live on Eve TV coverage. Much cooler for The Dead BRUCE Shop and a bigger dissappointment for us. Oh, Happy could have gotten a jump clone by then and saved the 300 mil (he claims) in implants he lost.
Sigh, now I remember why I lost faith in the BRUCE leadership, it was their nonstop bad idea factory. I guess FOOM took it with them and still have it fueled and online.

Yeah they should have waited until the real fighting starts, but either way I thought it was great.
Just something to add a bit of color to proceedings and remind everyone that in eve, you are never, ever safe.
I hope it gets a news item.

Yea, interesting match for sure.
Was a fun fight in the midst of all the confusion.
If the info of the internal malfunction had been leaked we wouldn't have wasted time on that target . . . maybe.
Kudos to the Blackbird. Had our Command ship pilot swearing on comms, lol.

We went into this with very low expectations. We are basically industrialist that are just learning how to make things go boom. We did want to leave an impression and we definitely will have done that for some time to come!

You did not simply warp once and then get podded - you were moved to a beacon, warped to a gate, and asked again to not move and you did not comply. You were podded in accordance with tournament rules. Therefore, your implants will not be reimbursed.
