Hey there, Im Caldari, I was a noob and trained missles, I cant really solo pvp with my ships, and my shield tank is meh. I have been playing for a year and a half, and feel like im spinning my wheels, and starting to really understand the way CCP does Nerf, and how nerfs can hurt.
So I decided to specialize in the Cerebus and put my self on a 4 month skill plan that will give me almost 500 dps with tech 2 missles. I find I can only PVP with a gang of people or in a fleet, and im using missles. I have under 1 mil trained in gunnery. I have currently 4 million in missles
I see threads about Caldari sucking, and think should I x train. I want to stay in Hacs for now, but x training probably means training armor skills, gunnery, and new ships races.
So I find myself dreading the log in, I dont really like the blobs, and all the elite guys are like my rails are so awesome, your missles suck. Youre pretty useless. This is awhine, honestly it is.
No you cant have my stuff, should I take a break till tech3 or should I reroll. Factional warfare, and lose some cheap frigs. Will specializing my Hac at least give me a fighting chance in 1vs1. Thanks guys. |

Why leave the Cerb? The Cerb is, as far as I keep hearing, just fine as a damage dealer in gangs. Stay with what you like and ignore the FOTM-*****s.
It's a game afterall, and playing a game is supposed to be fun. |

Yea, I just find myself not having fun, I realize CCP must keep the game balanced and I can understand that. I think Im just at that cross roads that other Eve players have reached, continue or quit.

Indeed, while amarr and lasersis very good now, they are not iWin buttons. Cerb is a nice ship, use its range to your advantage. It is however not a solo ship, few caldari ships are.
And with 4 M in missiles you do well is gangs, and any gang that say you suck does not know what works and what do not. I'd be happy if I had a long range cerb in my gang. |

If its your corp/alliance giving your grief about using missles then find a new corp/alliance
also you dont loose your skill points in missles if you decide to train up gunnery or loose your ability to shield tank if you work on armor tanking skills. Taking a new direction in your skills isn't as hard as your thinking as you can still be an effective damage dealer in fleet/gang warfare until you get the other skills training up to a decent lvl.
as far as 1v1 pvp goes you should know by now that it really doesn't exist .. its gank or be ganked in eve.
you probably know all of this already but just stating the facts.. take a break if you must if Eve has gotten ahold of you already then you'll be back and if you even have the slightest thought that you might be back keep your account alive and train up BS5 |

I realize training armor and gunnery wont affect my missle skills or shield skills, but it seems like one step forward two steps back to me. I think a good sleep will get me out of this mood. Sorry for whining on the forums.
I guess im venting, which can help |

Schalac: Gunnery 13 of 40 skills, 1,499,260 Points
Missiles... well that is a whole new ball park.
**** the forum nay sayers. Specialize in what you like to do and if you find that what you really liked to do was something different than what you what you wanted, the beauty of EVE really shines. Start training what you really like to do now and then you not only have what you really like to do trained but something else to fall back on because it is in your head and learned.
See, I believe that EVE is a spec or die game. And if you are going to spec into something don't do it half arsed like so many people do. I also like the fact though that if during your training you find a different approach to playing better suits your needs and wants, you can turn a 180 and head that direction instead on the same character without losing all of your progress already achieved.
I am a purist though. A quaker in the MMO class game and will never split spec until I feel finished in what I am aiming for right now. SO take my advice with caution and do what feels best for you. |

I was in the same boat you were in about a year ago. I decided to start working on some amarr ships (before they got a boost) I trained t1 guns up as I trained to a BS then I got t2 meds and started working on amarr cruiser 5. I really enjoy some of the amarr ships, especially the arbitrator (curse, pilgrim) and the geddon.
In short train up what you want to, don't worry what anyone else thinks, and have fun. Its just a game, |

I'm also taking a break from EVE, and will probably be back for the next expansion.
I can only fly Amarr ships and I'm about to cross train to ... Caldari. Yeah I know even flying Amarr ships the supposed FOTM race(a 1 year ago everybody were laughing of the Amarr pilots ), I want to try the Cerberus, Drakes and such. Why ? Because I like missiles and want to fly new ships. Regarding the crap talk about missiles I don't give a dam, about no insta damage, lack of speed, etc... It's a game and I'm playing the game to have fun.

Cerb is a fine ship, i fly one on a regular basis. In fact i trained all my missile skills to 5 before the patch aka nerf,a corp mate of mine took the p1ss out of me for weeks. I showed him, who was boss and now he flys a cerb himself and currently training missile skills up
Cross train to another racial ship type to complement your current skills, beside armour tanking skills are few & easy to train, compared to the many needed for shield tanking. Once you have these armour tanking skills out of the way, they will go very well with many racial ship types eg amarr, gallent and even some minmatar ships types which you may find to have some shield tanking varitys in thier range.
Before you know it ya a PvP god, who flys all and what ever flavour of ship it is that month.

Hehe, trained amarr a bit before the boost as well. Just finished in time for the boost and the funny thing is...there's really not much that has changed. Resists were changed and two ships got a slot change. Oh and the Apoc was fixed. And now amarr is FOTM? How the heck did that happen? O.o
Balance is important, but you will always adapt to changing circumstances and you don't whine about stuff you can't change. |

tbh, if you wind up feeling you have to train a different boat, start by training for the moa/eagle, that's a very underestimated gunnery-boat. And if that falls through, you'll already have most of the skills for rokh for fleet battles But, in all seriousness, ferox/moa/eagle are perfectly fine caldari gunnery-boats - you just have to get over the butt-uglyness of caldari ships and you're fine |

Most people hit a burn out point at some stage in EVE, Ive had a couple and Id suggest just set a long skill running and take a break for a while.
After a period of intense play you start to notice all the little flaws and imperfections, then as time progresses these flaws start to really grate. At the same time you take all the really good stuff for granted.
A good break will mean you'll come back a bit more refreshed, and will probably have time to mull over a few new fittings and be prepared to hit the skill taining again.
