thinking out loud here, what if having an active/successful Jam on a target also caused that ship to be unlockable by all other ships? |

Falcon alts would be used as stabs then.

hmm jesus, thats really sounds sweet.
Would give jamming a new flavor. But there IS an problem, if other ships can't target it, theres no way to hold that jammed ship in there, when hes not inside a bubble he will simply fly away to save his ass.
Would bring even more the role of the Interdictors into focus, bc normal ships can't warpscrambel it without locking it.
IMHO it should stay in that way that the jammend ship can be warpscrambeld the old way.
But regarding enemy damage it sound nice if the jammend ship can't be damaged by weapons that needs an active locked target.
Personally i love the idea. At least they can't shoot you down without you can shoot back. (they will nonetheless later on)
But i like the main idea.

Or maybe just lower the sigradius of the jammed ship (addressing some of the problems discussed above). Breathing 0.0 |

Sounds like an awesome way to bypass gatecamps.
Have your falcon buddy jam you while you sail through, untargetable until you're free and clear of bubbles and warp off. Sweet!

How bout all ships simply unlocking the ECM'd ship? It'd completely disable the target, but give some risk to using ECM, and also give the victim a brief chance to escape.
However, I could see this as not working due to the lag that it could cause. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

Drop the idea.

Here's a more simpler solution, jammed target cannot have highslot modules activated on them.
I think the train of thought in this thread is pretty great myself.
I very much like the idea of ECM being used to manage numbers of the enemy by temporarily freezing certain people in their fleet out the the fight.
Rather then the IWIN button it is at the moment.

Well, it's certainly a better response than your usual 'Terrible idea', I guess |

How about just fix it so if the jamming ship loses target lock on the jammed ship the jamming effect also immediately drops. This removes the problem of Falcons Jamming and then cloaking for 20sec then popping back to jam again.
After that Falcons are eggshells and if you plan to deal with them not that terrible an issue. All other jamming ships are even less of a threat.

It wouldn't really change things all that much in my opinion. I haven't flown in any good gangs where the damage primary was the same as the ECM primary. v0v

This is a terrible idea. Let me tell you why.
Alliance A and B are in a fleet battle. Alliance B is dominating, 6 of their dreads are sieged firing at an Alliance A carrier. Alliance A decloaks a Falcon, jams THEIR OWN CARRIER and renders 6 dreads useless. |

how does that work? cloaks have a 30 second recharge time. |

Covert ops cloaks have about a 2 second recharge time.
The only reason people scream about the Falcon is it's a stealthy pain in the arse.. all the other jammers have to stand and deliver the falcon can hide. |

How about ppl use eccm on a few ships in their gangs with the fit, slot and base sig str to make them good anti-falcon ships.
Cos either falcons/ecm are powerful and widely used and as such a counter or two in a gang is a massive fight winning benefit.
Or they suck and are not seen as much as ppl claim and as such do not need a counter to be brought along and used in gangs.
Pick one and stfu with the alt threads pls.
