Edited by: Tandin on 12/02/2009 07:39:28 Unlike most MMOs, Race and Class in eve are only relevant to skill training. The attributes in this game affect how fast you train skills and nothing else. For PvP, Pick a race that gives you good bonuses to perception and willpower. At one point during creation it lets you distribute 5 additional points. I'd give these to intelligence and memory. Unless you plan to fly command ships (it'll take quite a while to get to that point), Charisma is largely irrelevant for PvP skills.
That said, the class determines what your starter skills are. Any of the races "military" options are good choices. Keep in mind that any character from any class of any race can train any skill. There's no limitation on which races can train which skills.
The new release coming out in a month will add some new features such as the ability to shift attribute points around. This will let you adjust as necessary later on.

yes they can be max/min to train specifics skill groups but I would recommend a 8/8/8/8/7 or very close to in attributes until you know the game better and you either get a more specialized alt or play around a bit with the game so you get a good feel for what works for you and is fun then wait the next expansion and respec your character to fit your needs better...

Remember that while their stats are a bit more optimised they look like dog barf, make sure you can stand looking like a YAMMA (Yet Another Min Maxing Achura).

Yea, I'd rather make a face that I wouldn't mind sticking with for 10 years and go for balanced attributes across the board. Though, the new face renders in Ambulation might improve Achuras. |

You can buy character portrait swaps later on if you want for $10, but you cant ever change your race or background once you start a character. Race only affects your starting attributes/skills/faction. Beyond that, it is purely cosmetic. Anyone can train for any race's ships and skills, and can gain faction anywhere eventually.
This site can allow you to create optimal character templates for the type of character you want, if you dont care about looks/background.

A word of warning though...all male Gallente look fruity, no matter how you pose them for their portrait. They will always look like they are heading out to a "dance" bar. So if you don't want a fruity looking male character, you'll need to pick a different race.

...and after March 10 everyone will be able to retweak their attributes.
So, your choice in race is really a cosmetic one: just choose one that you like and work with it from there.

You really are free to pick any race. It only determines a small amount of your overall gaming experience.
