Ok how many people have HUGE messy and confusing employment histories because they were in a NPC corp for 3 seconds between corps?
To solve it may I suggest that a corp is only entered into the Employment History if you have been in it for at least 1 hour (maybe 30mins). This is simple to implement... You simply have the command that usually submits the data to your Employment History cycle an 'if' statement, so:
if CORPTIME > 1/3600 then SUBMITEmploymentHistoryData end if
(1 or 3600 depending on if the game records the corp time in hours or seconds)
I think it would put an end to the messy Employment Histories in the game and at such little effort, even if it were set to just 15mins. I know I'm picky but after I suggested about the corp logo's they were tweaked so I thought it worth a try at this.
Anyone agree?

Delayed transactions are never simple and cycling in a loop for a day is most definitely not an option. Unless you count "knocking out a node" as option...
The history window could probably filter out entries with a delta of less than a day or so to the next entry though. That would also be a client-side-only solution with no impact on server performance.
AFAIK you can also switch from one corp to another without going through an NPC corp. Not quite sure how that worked again...

Personally, I really don't care if a person has ever been in a particular NPC corporation. I'd like all NPC corporation entries to be invisible, except the current one.
Maybe give the person viewing the Employment Histories an option to list NPC corps, or not. That way we can view only relevant entries, Player Corps.

you also have to remain in a corp for at least 24 hours, so if OP is being literal about the 30 seconds, his suggestion is useless, since noone will ever be in a corp for less then an hour.

You do realize that you don't have to go back to an NPC corp before joining another corp, right? ------------------------------------

lol I said 15mins didn't I? I don't mean cycle every bloomin' second... Obviously that would be stupid and I didn't expect anyone to actually think I meant that.
The command could just be on a 15min loop that stops once the if statement is complete. So it will only actually run once or 4 times if it's set to an hour. I can't see any reason why is would be complicated at all. (Yes I have programming experience)
I wouldn't say a day personally. I think it's best being there just as a clean-up feature. But maybe a day would be good for the times you leave a corp and spend a day looking for a new one so I can see your point.

That is incorrect. You can join directly from player corporation to player corporation as long as your roles timer is expired (ie you have had no roles for more than 24h).
I'm opposed to this idea also for the reason, that you might miss the point where character changed hands when looking at emplyment history of new recruit. ONLY reason why char needs to be in NPC corp between corps is character sale. Don't know about you guys, but when new recruit is applying seeing few hours long stay in NPC corp almost always rises some alarm bells and causes some additional questions.

Character will be in an NPC corp, because: (1) Character trade (2) CEO of a closing corp (technically could use an alt to install as a CEO, join the other corp, and then close the corp with the alt) (3) Faction war (in the NPC FW corps)
The 24 hour waiting period only applies if the person in question has roles. As characters in NPC corps do not have any roles, they do not have this period. Any player corp member who hasn't had any roles to begin with doesn't have the period, either.

Is that not what I just said? You can't leave a corp while roles are still active, no matter if you are going to NPC or Player corp. Learn to comprehend... ------------------------------------

No.
We could have hide npc corporations option when showing info of some other character, though. |
