Every one hates spam.
We have all also been at one time or another on a forum or comment page that hides the posts of unregistered users. some of them have a setting that filters the content all together others post the name of the poster but you have to click on it to read the message.
Dear CCP,
Can we have one or the other Please.
Thanks.
PS. We would also need a setting to turn it off for those of us that like helping legit noobs.

it seems a little harsh to kill local chat for trial accounts. lots of noobs wouldnt know where else to ask for help.
however, it seems to me that the obvious solution is to stop a personf rom saying the same thigns tice in a row.
flood protection, its called, and its really REALLY easy to set up.

I'm not suggesting that they prevent them from chatting just that users not interested in interacting with new players would not have to and anyone more interested in seeing no spam then talking to new players would have a less irritating time.
though i do think your idea would be an effective deterrent as long as they made the repeat time very long IE an hour or so at least long enough for a gm to respond to someone reporting the spammers that post the first time.

Flood prevention is much needed. The OP's idea isn't. If you don't like local then minimize it and turn it to 'blink off'. If you want somewhere to chat, the faction channels are nice and usually spam free. If you want to chat to those locally, then setup a new room and invite or spam local chat with your new channel. You already have many options, use those first and leave the poor trial accounts out of it. ------------------------------------

Solution: Right click > Blink off then switch to a different channel.
