1. Anyone got a Mint to go with that Wine? - in Linux [original thread]
Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution, so the bleeding-edge Ubuntu repositories should work OK with it for both Wine and the drivers.

2. Problems with Ubuntu 12.10 - in Linux [original thread]
I had some trouble upgrading to the 310.19 package as it didn't remove the old 304.XX module from the loading path correctly. Going into /lib/modules/`uname -r`/updates/dkms/ and removing the extra kernel module did the trick there.

3. What can we do... - in Linux [original thread]
No kidding. Did I say "they can just recompile and it'll be golden"? No. It is, however, written in one of the most reliable cross-platform languages out there. Many of the changes to that language that CCP needed to make everything work smoothly...

4. What can we do... - in Linux [original thread]
I meant what I said. The relevant functions to do DirectX under Linux are being implemented. When they are done they will be able to do a no-compromise cross build. [edit] Make that "have been implemented" http://www.phoronix.com/vr.php?view=152...

5. What can we do... - in Linux [original thread]
The library support under Linux to do a native build is pretty close to complete. Unless they are still dependent on third-party MSWindows specific libraries it's possible they could start work on a native build in just a few months without having...

6. pitch black - in Linux [original thread]
I have found that pulseaudio's purpose is to break sound, and that simply uninstalling it is sufficient to fix things.

7. Lot of Ubuntu users - in Linux [original thread]
The Ubuntu or Debian base is pretty solid, and I find it easier than the RedHat base (though not by much). Drivers and hardware problems have stung me a lot lately, so I'm considering moving to Gentoo, but I wouldn't recommend Gentoo to anyone wh...

8. Eve installed but will not start on Ubuntu 12.04... - in Linux [original thread]
Wine version doesn't matter too much, I got the CarbonIO error when my video drivers were messed up.

9. Eve has sound? - in Linux [original thread]
Every time I have sound problems on a linux box I uninstall pulseaudio and the problems go away. This makes me really wonder what the people who maintain it and put it into various distributions are smoking.

10. Stuck in all-caps - in Linux [original thread]
I HAVE NOTICED THAT EVE IN GENERAL LOSES TRACK OF MODIFIER KEY CHANGES WHEN SWITCHING WINDOWS. Oh, wait... I have had the same thing occur with alt and ctrl leading to some awkward in-space hijinks. Shift is the only one that seems to require re...

12. Exception during startup - in Linux [original thread]
This is one of several failure modes I've encountered in the last week on my main game machine, I'll post when I've figured out what the brain damage is. Though I'd double check your winetricks includes (or lack thereof).

14. nVidia 295.40 driver evil on some machines. - in Linux [original thread]
This driver has kept my laptop (210M) out of commission since Ubuntu deployed it. Rolling back to 295.33 works, rolling forward to 295.49 may work.
