Are you sure it's not just the self updates being installed? In the log file you provided, the first part is from version 2.1.829048 and the second part is from version 2.1.830930. It probably just restarted itself to install the update.

If you're on Windows, the logs will be under launcher\cache. On OSX they're inside the application itself, under Contents/Resources/cache

If you get the message "EVE Online appears to be damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash" it's because of OSX Gatekeeper. See Apple's knowledge base article lists this as one of the errors it throws. If you lower Gatekeepers...

The log shows you're getting a timeout. I don't know why though. I think it's happening when you're connecting to http://cdn1.eveonline.com/828310/RepairData_828310.dat.
