The two models I like are the 5 hardeners and 6+ large arttilery, or over a dozen hardeners and minimal guns. Regardless of the number you put up, use projectiles as they get the range and rof bonus.

I've heard that the base time is 1 hour and that you add 1-5 hours by namming the can. I haven't tested that, but I have never had a can despawn in under 2 hours... I'd go with a 2nd account hauler. And since you won't keep that hauler busy with ...
