|121. Problems Patching? Try this... - in Linux [original thread]
Launched the ExeFile.exe - as usual. Window popped up: "there's a new 6MB patch". Gloriously hit OK. Patch downloaded via Georgia Tech, installed and restarted; launcher started, downloaded the 750MB+ patch, applied, client ready. Closed launch...

|122. EVE on KVM ? - in Linux [original thread]
Never used KVM (we use Xen at work), but if this is the actual status of the project: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernel-based_Virtual_Machine I frankly doubt a "Cirrus CLGD 5446 PCI VGA card or dummy VGA card with Bochs VESA extensions" is a...

It will run faster on XP than on Linux. But as you can see from the other top threads in this forum - hint: browse the first ten or so of them - the success rate for using EVE on linux is really good nowadays. Your hardware setup is approximately...

|126. Game reports wrong graphics card - in Linux [original thread]
That was an issue with very old WINE versions, where the (newish) graphic cards are not properly recognized and defaulted to the 8800. Since you didn't say which WINE version you used, use WINE 1.6! :)

|127. Lightning fast EVE? - in Linux [original thread]
That "mostly" is the best first step, believe me. To answer your question: yes, there are some wine tricks (pun intended ;) ) to squeeze the best out of the translation layer, graphic drivers, scheduler, etc. They usually don't make that huge dif...

|130. Sticky:Dev Blog: Battle for 6VDT-H - summary and numbers - in EVE Information Portal [original thread]
The ultimate winner? CCP. An unplayable game getting huge media coverage, without a single word about how we needed ten minutes to cycle a dampener, or five to start orbiting a target... And we're all just pawns in their PR game... *Sigh*

Python is the "logic" code. It can be easily ported over Linux. The problem is the rest of the code - namely graphics, audio, network, and a lot of other third-party libraries and technologies (think Vivox for the Voice Chat feature), which is al...

No, the Mac client is a DirectX client wrapped up with a similar technology as we linux users leverage with WINE.
