1. Armor tanking ship better than VNI for ratting? - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
I would generally aim for a shield tanking ship for ratting, simply because damage mods are low slots and compete with tank for armor ships. Even with mid slot tracking mods you won't get the same completion times as with shields.

Why you'd ever fly a capital without at least the cap ships skill to IV is beyond me. Kinda makes worrying about the difference moot. Dreads are designed to be less skill intensive from the start however, hence the lower requirements.

If you read the description on the skill it also says it reduces the activation cost by 10% per level, in order to offset the duration.

Small close range guns/missiles cycle at lot quicker than once per second, so yes, it's there. The server just won't update on each cycle, but on the serverside 1-second tick.

Not sure where you're ratting, but getting in close with autocannons will get you more damage. Also if your range allows for it, swap a tracking enhancer for another Gyrostabilizer. No point going beyond the third one though.

Angels are the only ones where you really notice much in terms of resistances screwing over lasers. Aside from that I can't say lasers are at much of a disadvantange, except against neuts.
