1. Yes, no lowsec or null shenanigans without friends 2. Generally you don't make huge profit from freighters. You could try trading, moving large items, or large quantities of small items, to systems where you get a better price. Not much profit...

I started my lvl 3s in a Prophecy, but that was only because I couldn't afford the Harby. It can do them, but the Harby is just so much better, and these days the price difference between them is so small, it would be a bit silly to use the Proph.

The Apoc doesn't really shine until you get the tech 2 pulses, along with scorch, but it's the closest thing Amarr have to a low SP BS. If you have good cap skills the Abbadon is worth a look. Or the Navy Geddon if you have the ISK, can work well ...
