1. Trying to have PVP both ways - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
Originally by: Neesa Corrinne The MMO market is thoroughly saturated with games that have no death penalty. I'm really not trying to be a jerk when I say, please go try them out instead of trying to change this one. And quote me when I s...

2. Trying to have PVP both ways - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
Originally by: Tzigan Jegos The bottom line is that a competent carebear can raise enough isk in a week of carebearing to pvp at least 3 or 4 days, even with cruisers and battlecruisers, arguably having much more fun (shooting players not ...

3. Trying to have PVP both ways - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
My own little rant isn't to say that the death penalty is BAD, or that there should be less PVP. What I AM saying is that a lot of EVE players (again, see the two star charts) prefer safer means of playing the game. One of my pet peeves is that m...

4. Trying to have PVP both ways - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
There is a game that I play online that has lots of PVP content. Unlike the other similar games, it was less on who has the l33test skills and more about people coming to work together as a team. Building a good infrastructure is as important as f...

5. ZP Reviews Eve Online - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
While I disagree with what he said, it's hard for me to think of any other conclusion he could have came up with. Unlike in WoW where one could grind themselves silly and get to a very high level in 14 days, it's literally impossible in EVE. Also ...

Originally by: An Anarchyyt So the Orange Box was the only thing he ever liked. Have you ever thought of recruiting from Valve? You'd also get better office pinatas. I think he also liked Super Mario Galaxy, Braid, the Prince of Persia ...

7. As Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw would put it, 'The Fun' - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
Another possibility they could do is to make Mining totally non-interactive, where you CAN just watch a movie or play Dwarf Fortress, or browse TVTropes or something. The current system just really straddles the wost of both worlds, being not inte...

9. As Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw would put it, 'The Fun' - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
Originally by: Digital Solaris Why should a aspect of the game necessarily be fun? . . . . I'm not sure what definition of "game" you are operating on, but games are supposed to be fun. A game is something you do to amuse yourself, a...

10. As Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw would put it, 'The Fun' - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
Originally by: Artemis Rose Well, mining can be done AFK. And its not the only thing you can do to generate ISK. Grinding NPCs in belts and missions is more interactive than that, albeit not that much more enjoyable after a while. Product...

Originally by: Zibu 81 Edited by: Zibu 81 on 24/06/2008 06:23:52 Well the difference between EVE and that Dwarf Fortress is that in Dwarf Fortress you have Dwarves that do the job for you and you just have to manage them (at least from...

12. As Ben 'Yahtzee' Croshaw would put it, 'The Fun' - in EVE General Discussion [original thread]
Let me explain how mining is done in Dwarf Fortress. You're given a massive section of 3d rock divided into layers depending on the geological makeup of the area, and you have mine it. You don't know where the ore is, though since you know what th...

Here's a more concrete example. To buy a lottery ticket, or not. You don't know if you're going to win or not. If you don't buy, you gain nothing and lose nothing. $0 change. If you buy, if you lose you're down $1. If you WIN you're up 200 mill...

15. 10 Million to the person that destroys this arguement - in Out of Pod Experience [original thread]
While I support changing global behavior for climate change, his argument is nothing but a rehash of Pascal's Wager. You can't draw any conclusion unless you know the possibilities involved. If, THEORETICALLY, human caused global climate change ha...

17. Ratting too easy? Suggestions to add some more risk - in Player Features and Ideas Discussion [original thread]
I wouldn't call lessening the number of rats decreasing the risk. I would say quite the opposite, increase the number of rats and make them fight like real players. This has the added bonus of reducing the difference between PVP fits and PVE fits.

I doubt EVE Online is in any position to challenge World of Warcraft, which is still the most popular MMO ever, but has already made Blizzard enough money to develop and launch 10 more MMOs.

20. EVE Online : Raytraced? - in Player Features and Ideas Discussion [original thread]
As far as I know, ray tracing in real time isn't quite ready for the commercial market. It may deliver better quality, but at this time you need a very advanced computer. We need to wait a few more generations before ray-tracing will be commonplace.
