384. Am I ready for Apocrypha ? - in Linux [original thread]
mmh For the sisi installer I get the same senseless directx-error I got for every testpatch so far. Starts, patches and about 35% whines about a dxsetup.exe with wrong crc. But on the other Hand no SiSi installer has ever worked for me, so I am ...

385. Splash screen then nothing, premium client + wine + kubuntu - in Linux [original thread]
If you're sure, that it was your tweaking, why don't you just delete the wine directory (rm -rf /home/<yourusername>/.wine) ? Then put the d3dx9_36.dll From Here กก into your system32 folder. Wine/Eve should start then, again.

388. Mining!!! - in Player Features and Ideas Discussion [original thread]
Originally by: Cyberman Mastermind The bottom line is - mining doesn't work like the rest of eve. It's a nice hobby, but rarely anything else. Thats not true. Get in a nice industry corp in deep 0.0 space, then go out mining bist/ar...

I think it's basically the right choice. My Laptop can do SM2 so I still keep the ability to log in from a hotel to change skills. Just hope that CCP will not break wine compatibility with the new client since I have long given up to wait for any...

391. Low-Sec Fix - in Player Features and Ideas Discussion [original thread]
First of all, I have seen far too many "simply do that to fix everything". So I will try to get an outline for you. In Eve, you have to take risks, its one the basics of Eve. You have at a basic level two options: Deal with the risk or avoid risk...

The feature is called virtual screen. Start winecfg. Under the grafics tab, you should set up a virtual Desktop at a lower resolution than your monitor has, while maintaining the ratio (16:10, 16:9, 4:3). Then start eve, set it to fullscreen mod...

I am fairly happy with simon's gtkevemon. But I think that many players use KDE and so this could be very helpful for them. Maybe you could talk to Simon on Battleclinic if you could port it from gtk to qt? PS: I use XFCE and Compiz.
