Mutual means that they don't need to pay for the wardec, methinks. That also means that if they try to bail out of the war, you can choose to continue the dec and shoot them in a vae victis fashion (the original saying, not the alliance).

Updates: Stealing the automatically-updating outpost data feature from Verite's map would be a nice feature. (Good artists copy, great artists steal.) If I remember correctly, this map updates automatically, except for the outpost data.
