I think something like Sasha mentioned could work. Something to keep in mind is that the sound changes depending on if you're using the tactical camera or orbit camera and on distance to the target, which could create an inconsistent sound experie...

Edited some footage together of the new graphics for stars from the Singularity test server! I think they look really cool, I just wish we had more of a reason to warp to them. (not so subtle hint that people should put their citadels near them!) ...
