Allow the use of mining ships and orcas in the Alliance tournament. Put a big mineable rock in the middle of the arena, any ore mined from it inside a ship that is still alive at the 10 minute timer counts for bonus victory points.

Have boosters actually be addictive. Instead of a chance of a side effect during use, give them a chance of a longer lasting ( ie days ), bad side effect, which can be delayed by popping a new booster.

And it's actually not entirely useless. Sure, when you have CCU 4-5 it is, but when you only have 1-2-3 then you are severely limited on CPU, so putting a CPU hog like a spaceport down eats a lot of what little you have.
