5. Lag on Ship Explosion - in Test Server Feedback [original thread]
This isn't lag. It's just the client with it's usual bloated behavior. It can't handle the demands. Further reading - Decouple Client Interface from Network . Vote for Low graphics client .

You forget the loot. 0.0 loot is very useful stuff. And salvaging brings in far more ISK than the bounties do, although this applies everywhere. As for lowsec, I haven't done enough ratting there but I assume that's where all the missing high qu...

No problem here - I am using Wine though. You could try turning off the ingame graphics cache, that might help.

10. eve slows down my cpu - in Linux [original thread]
Another option might be to turn off the power save features. Dunno where to find them though. Maybe in BIOS settings or maybe your distro has some features for that. I've never needed to look for such things using a desktop box. As for the correc...

12. eve slows down my cpu - in Linux [original thread]
Have to highlight the possibility of something similar to cache thrashing ... Where the thread is constantly swapping between cores and only using 50% of each processor. I suspect your power management is kicking in to throttle the CPU because it'...

14. Multiple clients in wine: restrict video mem? - in Linux [original thread]
Sounds like cache thrashing on a dual core CPU. Try using "taskset" to force each copy of Eve to it's own processor. I just had a quick look and found taskset in a package named "schedutils".

15. Premium Content on Linux? - in Linux [original thread]
One of the big difficulties which this approach is that without Blizzard on board Transgaming prolly has little interest in changing tact. And Blizzard is well versed with dual development already so has little incentive to contract the job out.

16. Premium Content on Linux? - in Linux [original thread]
It'd be better if Transgaming used the money to work with Wine. That way CCP get their contract fulfilled more effectively. Transgaming legally gets access to the modernised Wine. Wine gets more input. And, assuming an agreeable outcome for CCP, ...

Okay, scrap my guess on grid size. It's not that easy to figure out. I started dropping loot to measure the distances better only to find that this caused all the objects in the area to stay visible. I got out to about 1500 km and decided it wasn...

Tom's don't do their tests with Eve do they. Besides, their claims have always been biased toward desktop apps. I'd hate to be the one trying to setup a decent Eve test. The easiest, and prolly the most consistent, I can think of is running the s...

20. That 249km locking cap - in Test Server Feedback [original thread]
I believe the grid granularity is more like 1000 km not 500 km. A quick run reveals objects disappear at roughly +-400 km from the beacon so maybe it's somewhere around a 800 km grid.
