I don't think we know enough about the new NPCs yet to come up with anything solid.

It will depend on the wormhole average mass limit. If it will allow, then as was suggested in previous threads, people will be taking cap ships with ships and people on them. That will allow refitting for the damage type if it's unknown, jumping if you are dropped in hostile 0.0, and generally a more viable option. If wormholes will collapse under cap ships, then at first only cov-ops will be going through. Have to be dumb to risk anything before more is known about where you are going. *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. Nope, can't clone jump into W-space.
Originally by: Rajere You can't take cap ships, so no.
Actually, as long as the cap ships are under the mass limit, and it's not a "restricted" jump for them (ie from W-space into highsec), cap ships can indeed enter W-space. ---

You should read the dev blogs and hop on sisi. At this point in time covert ops is pointless. Base scan time is 10 seconds. You're better off in a blockade runner.

Thats all changing. Skills and ship bonus will be redone with the new probe system in mind so they will still have an advantage over a non-specialized boat.

On top of that most blockade runners dont have a second high slot (prowler ftw).

That's a guess. All the devs have said is that cov ops will still have a role. They haven't said it will be the same role.

Edited by: Karrade Krise on 16/02/2009 20:51:58 Hear me now. I predict Buffertanked Remote Rep BS gangs will be the norm.
Just like the dev blog said...They intend for "Fighting Sleepers will be very similar to PVP"
Heed my words.
That is, as long as the restrictions for particular worm holes allow it...

And today we will be inserting the Thorax into the Wormhole, see due to the Thorax's relatively low mass it does not use up all available space in the Wormhole allowing for multiple Thorax's to be inserted and to penetrate the Wormhole.
Did I just type that? ------------

Whatever fit you use had better have a scan probe launcher.
Otherwise you could go in and not be able to get back out again without podding yourself.

Actually I think a covert ops wormhole hunter would be extremely handy, since any fleet attacking your fleet within a wormhole will aim for to destroy any scanner ships you have. If they do, they've effectively whiped out your entire fleet without having to destroy all your ships because you won't be able to exit the wormhole without self destructing. A covert ops frig however can just stay cloaked and never get targetted, much less shot. This ensures your ability as a fleet to exit the wormhole space.

Unless the tracking on these new NPCs is low enough to speed tank them in smaller ships, big ships with huge Hp buffers and lots of remote reps is probably going to be the only way to handle the harder spawns.
The things can crack a carriers tank with just a handful of ships, so the alpha (and DPS) must be phenomenal.

Prowler can do this and has a ton of cargo for ammo and loot.
Notes in the sisi forum say that covert ops is being changed to scan strength bonus.

Personally, since wormhole combat is meant to be more like real PvP, I will fly in a gang composed of 10 falcons, 2 Gank BS, and 2 logistics. This will ensure the fight is fair and balanced, and that the enemy cannot shoot me.
