The title says it all. The last two times I tried playing I recall getting the arc contact after completing all the tutorials, ergo the tutorials are necessary. |

Not completely, you can just run out to the Arnon and start it but the lack of ISK and ships is going to make doing it hell. The Drake is a Lie |

Thanks for the reply. I've already completed 2 (mil & adv mill) of the 5, and I'm half way through exploration. I was hoping I could skip the industry and trading tutorials. |

No ones forcing you. Go right ahead. Nothing is going to penalize you
The only thing those tutorials give you is an understanding of some industry mechanics(which you might not care about at this point) and some isk ( which is nice but not a whole lot)
This is eve, you don't want to manufacture than don't. You can come back and do the tutorials later if you want.
PS I realize that the internet is bad at conveying emotion. So I just want to make it clear that this is encouragement. Do what you want to have fun. There is a fine line between a post and a signature. |

Don't remember getting any contact from Alitura after I completed the tutorials on any of my toons... but yeah, you can do it anytime, don't even need to do any tutorial AFAIK. The tutorials are to help you get used to the UI a bit, explain some basic functions within EVE and get you some starting cash. If you need any of those 3 then you need to do the tutorials, it has nothing to do with what you choose to do afterwards/instead. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Best reason to do the 2 military tutorials before the SoE arc is to get the free destroyer. Ding a ding dang my dang along ling long |

Each Career Agent will give you various skillbooks, equipment, isk, basic experience, Corporation and Faction standing increase. Basically they will more or less give you a helping hand and a quick start into the game. |

I do tutorials whenever I see them. I do this for ISK and faction. I sell the items I get since I have progressed past tutorial level, but I still like the faction bumps.
I was advised by a friend not not dive into the Sisters of Eve arc (for myself, since I am focused on mining) just yet. I love that one can move as swiftly or slowly as they please in EVE.
One day I hope to be a PvP machine, but for now, I enjoy the melodious sounds of quiet mining in a remote area. |

IMO the sisters of eve arc is a little tough for newbies, 1-2 of the missions were pretty challenging in a t1 frigate. if you want to do them go for it, i think you get destroyer skillbook or something.. |

The Hive one (with the warp scramming drones) and the one where you have to blow up Dugan are the only tough ones. The latter being tough because it could literally take hours to break Dugan's tank in a T1 frigate with low skills and shyte mods (both of which you are likely to have at that point). |

Tutorials are good for free stuff and easy ISK, as well as bumping your standings up.
They are also repeatable - each race has 3 tutorial systems for a total of 12 systems you can do tutorial at. Rabble Rabble!! |

The SoE epic arc isn't that hard to do except for a couple of missions mentioned above. The last one against Dagan requires you to have a ship capable of doing over 200 DPS.
I did it in a retribution, but I basically had to clear out his buddies, and then fly back to station and fit with 3 T2 Heatsinks, because my skills weren't the absolute greatest. Thankfully, he has a hard time hitting frigates.
Alternately, find a friend. Friends are always nice. :) |
