I cant find it on the test server as I was curious about how this skill would be changed as the scan time reduction aint an issue.
Will the bonus be changed or does the skill totally change into another? Though as this happens I hope it does give the same training time/value as its lvl5 is quite long.
Any one could shine some light on this? |

It has not been decided yet, but most likely all probe cycle time bonuses will be replaced by scan strength bonuses.

Im afraid im the bearer of bad news
This skill Signal Acquisition has gone from my skill set and has had a name change to;
Astrometric Acquisition - Skill at the advanced operation of long range scanners. 10% reduction in scan probe scan time per level.
As for Astromectric Triangulation - Skill for the advanced operation of long range scanners. 10% increase to scan probe strength per level.
an increase of 5% per level

CCP has a track record of changing skills and their effects on what ever it is their current description says it affects. Best way to deal with this? Train it to level 5 and in a worst case scenario you get a bonus that is less great then it was before the patch, in the best case scenario you get a bonus that is better then before the patch and in a normal situation you will not get much more or less then you have now.
Unless CCP releases a final version of the patch to tranquility you will never know what is going to be happening to a specific skill, module or ship. That is just the way it is.

This sounds ominous. With astro pinpointing & triangulation and also signal acquisition maxed out methinks I ought to get onto the test server to see if I'm being paranoid or royally shafted

So it isn't on tranquility now?
What skill have I trained up then?

From th OP I'm guessing that the signal acquisition skill has been removed from sisi and the speculation is as to what it will become and what will happen to those players that already have the skill trained up.
I've been unable to get on sisi for some reason so would appreciate any further feedback from those in the know

Correct it seems its removed and now I would like to know/hear what will become of the skill. As we talk about a rank 8 skill we did spend some serious training time to get this up to lvl5 so the change, whatever change, should be worth the time we did spend on it.
A response from ccp on this would be appreciated ;)

Signal Acquisition is a rank 8 skill that lowers scan times by 10%. While the scantime is 600 seconds and it takes numerous scans to do anything that's important. While shipscans take 120 seconds it's downright vital. With Apocrypha it takes 5 seconds to probe, and you don't even need to use a more or less dedicated ship to do it(Hello cov ops) - the same rank 8 skill would lower the speed by an unrealisticly low figure, especially coupled with all the other attributes.
You don't spend a month training a skill that will save you a fraction of a second every now and then, especially not if your latency fluctuations often cause more of an issue than the scantime. Parrots, commence!

I thought all time reducing skills, rigs, ship bonuses and modules were changed to give a Strength bonus instead? This skill should be one of them?

The skills currently on sisi related to scanning are now:
Astrometrics (Rank 3) - Skill at operating long range scanners. Allows one additional probe in space per level. Astrometric Acquisition (Rank 5) - Skill at the advanced operation of long range scanners. 10% reduction in scan probe scan time per level. Astrometric Pinpointing (Rank 5) - Greater accuracy in hunting down targets found through scanning. Reduces maximum scan deviation by 10% per level. Astrometric Triangulation (Rank 8) - Skill for the advanced operation of long range scanners. 10% increase to scan probe strength per level.
The covert ops ship bonus has changed to - Covert Ops Skill Bonus: -98% to -100% reduction in Cloaking Device CPU use per level and 10% increase to scan strength of probes per level.
The gravity capacitor upgrade rig now gives a 10% bonus to scan strength.
The Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher now has a 5% scan strength bonus built in.
Interesting times await... |

Sorry to be a pain again (still can't get onto sisi) but has anyone had the chance to see how the fancy SoE Virtue implants are affected?
If everything that was scan speed related now appears to be scan strength, do these implants remain stength related? Seems a bit overkill to me.
I ask primarily for selfish reasons, I'm approaching the lp level to acquire the lot, but it's quite an investment to make if thet're not going to be as effective (in relative terms) as they are at present.

From the Low grade virtue gamma
Quote: Secondary Effect: 3% bonus to scan strength of probes
From the Sisters Core scanner probe 1
Base sensor strength = 44 points vs 40 points for the standard probe.

Additionally, the PPH and PPG probe implants have changed.
PPH-0 is now 2% scan strength instead of 2% scan duration. PPH-1 6% strength instead of 6% duration PPH-2 10% strength instead of 10% duration
PPG-0 is now 2% scan duration instead of 1% scan strength. PPG-1 6% duration instead of 3% strength PPG-2 10% duration instead of 5% strength
Virtue implants are unchanged
With max skills, a full set of virtue implants, the PPH-2 implant, a cov-ops rigged with 2 Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I, and a Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher I... ... the strength of the Core Scanner Probe is increased from 40 to 168.
Also, the Sisters Core Scanner Probe has a base strength of 44.
Interesting times await... |

If you are already springing for 2 or 3 bill on virtue, get T2 rigs. (though off the top of my head I can't remember if there is a calibration cost issue).

The replacement of Signal Acquisition by Astrometric Acquisition, as currently modeled on the test server, poses a problem: loss of skill points. If implemented in its current state, players will have their Signal Acquisition skill, rank 8, replaced by Astrometric Acquisition, rank 5. So... I wonder what happens to those 768,000 incremental skill points? (at level 5)

that isnt true, what they have done is that they have switched from Acquisition to Triangulation and vice versa.
so the old Signal Acquisition have become the new Astrometrics Triangulation and the old Astrometrics Triangulation has become the new Astrometrics Acquisition
