I've been told that some capital ships (like a titan and mothership?) can't dock in stations. If this is the case, then does that mean that one player has to constantly be flying that ship, and if they want to fly something else, they need to eject from the ship and have some other player hop in to make sure it's not left undefended?
(Also, if anyone could list which ships cannot dock in stations, that's be lovely.) |

Edited by: Induc on 21/02/2009 18:27:53 I'm not sure exactly which caps that can't be docked, but I think it's only motherships and titans yes. But I've heard they can be left floating inside a POS bubble and be pretty safe, not sure how long abandoned ships survive in space though.

Edited by: Tranka Verrane on 21/02/2009 18:34:46 Titans can be looked up in the Market window if you're interested. Motherships also, although they're listed under carriers (the motherships are the ones that say they're immune to electronic warfare). Very few people in Eve fly one, so you won't find people flocking to answer your questions on them.
The undockable ships are generally left inside a POS forcefield before logging off, as I understand the procedure. And they are undockable because they are bigger than most stations.
Also please understand that asking about Motherships and Titans in this forum is much like asking your driving instructor about Formula One. He might have an opinion, but it won't be from experience. I doubt anyone who flies a Titan hangs out in NC.

Being able to dock in a ship is a distinction between "supercapitals" and normal capital ships.
Unpiloted supercapitals can be stored in what's called a Capital Ship Maintenance Array, much like normal ships can be stored in a Ship Maintenance Array. Both are POS modules.
The first mothership purported to have undocked from a station was a Wyvern named "Sally", and owned by a member of the GoonFleet corporation. Some sort of bug happened with the Assembly Array during it's production, and a GM had to ultimately fix the problem by awarding the builder said ship in his hangar. Obviously, the mothership never redocked. Sally was lost in combat recently in/near AZN in Feythabolis.

Super capital ships tend to be flown by alt charactors So most Titan Class and Mothership Class ships will be flown by an alt on a diff account, so the person can fly a regular ship as well on their other char.
Both types spend a lot of time idling at a POS or in the case of the Titan creating jump bridges for other people to get around places -----------------------------------------------

Edited by: Varden Gage on 21/02/2009 20:45:53 Wasn't there an interview article in EON some time ago about a player who uses a Nyx mothership for solo piracy? Would be interesting to know what he does with it when not logged in. Do some mothership pilots go to a deep safe spot and logoff, or is that considered too much of a risk? Can a capital at a deep safe spot be scanned down and destroyed this way?

When you log off in a super cap it disappears after a certain amount of time (depending on aggro) just like any other ship.
I doubt that player pirates in his Nyx anymore since Moms are no longer the solopwnmobiles they once were.
