I played eve for about 2 or 3 months and then quit because I lost my battleship and the game just wasn't all that fun. After quitting Eve, I went back to World of Warcraft where all my friends were playing (I know that most ppl hate WoW). Although, I decided to come back to Eve and give it another try, it's been about a month now. Now I am back at the same point that caused me to quit Eve originally and go back to WoW. My problem is simple, there is nothing to do. Running missions (eve lvl 4s) gets boring fast and my corp is not in 0.0 so we don't pvp all that much. We have a few pvp ops every once in a while, but that's not even all that fun. Is there anything else to do, this game seems empty.

pfft. Hop in a BC or cruiser and troll around for people in low sec. They both take few SP to run and if you get popped, oh well, few million.
Honestly, if your corp isn't doing a whole lot, then maybe its time to find one that will. Put up a request in the hiring forum and state you want intense pvp action. Some merc or pirate group will snatch you up. Given some time and expirence, you may graduate to teh 0.0, where real people with real big ****s roam. ----------------- Friends Forever |

switch corps. get in a corp that's actually active, organized, and knows what they're doing; you have to realize there's more to eve than what you're doing atm. also, you having 2M SP doesn't really affect your ability to pvp. roaming gangs can always use another pilot, no matter who they are. ---------------------------

i know exactly how u feel, im the same way with eve. it would be on and off, i'd usually quit for a while upon getting ****ed/bored and go back to WoW where fun is instant and shiny. i quit WoW for good upon hitting 80 in early december and playing the 80 game for a few weeks. End game is a complete disaster.
so i've been back in eve for about 2 months now and having a good time. there are two things that are essential to have fun in eve, for most people:
- access to technology = variety; in my newbie days I wasn't able to do too many things. right now, my drone skills are almost maxed and i can fly assault frigs, inties, HACs, t1 frigs/cruisers and BS's. with my Ishkur, Taranis, Ishtar, Vexor and Domi I am able to rat in 0.0 and do lower lvl plexes, tackle, blow **** up in pvp, and run L4's, respectively. so variety = fun.
- access to pvp: this is the other essential piece. it took me a while, but i found the perfect corp; easy going, mature and experienced pvp'ers with the right orientation - the simple and focused desire to blow **** up and have fun. incidentally, this corp is also in faction warfare. so not only do we kill war targets on demand, but we also organize 0.0 roams, go into random alliances' space in T1 frigs, slip past their bubbles and harass their miners/ratters.
to me, eve is all about pvp, and pvp is very much about making money to fund it. so you need to find various ways to fund yourself, and a corp to pvp with. hope that helps.

Have you been to the EVE Gate? What about (Vak?)Atioth? Run starbases (ok this might make you delete your character)? Join a small-scale pvp corp? Pirated? Anti-Pirated? Joined a Militia? Ever gotten drunk with a CCP dev? Run science and industry operations? Fly to an under-developed 0.0 NPc station and tried to etch out a market of some sort? Involved yourself in EVE's backstory/roleplay?

The thing about EvE is that it's not an instant gratification game like WoW is. EvE requires a long term investment in time before it really starts to become engaging. The WoW kiddies are impatient and want everything immediately. They're not willing to invest in an EvE future.
EvE is indeed loads of fun, but it takes a while to get there. You need to find what sort of play style you like best and set your goals on that.
Also to consider is that most of the fun to have in EvE is with other players. Friends, corp mates, and alliance members. Playing this game solo just isn't fun. It's the people you play with that make this game really memorable.

2 mil sp in a BS is asking for trouble. also, you were either in dangerous space or attacked someone and got a nice popup warning you of the consequences. i actually find it hilarious that in this case i can say GB2WoW without assumption or speaking down to you.

Get a better corp. Or, rather, a corp better suited to what you want to do.

It's you. It's not your SP, its not the game- its just you. All you need to be effective in combat is to be able to fly a frigate and fit a warp disruptor. SP means very little to nothing. Actual player intelligence and experience mean everything.
A smart, low SP pilot in a frig or cruiser can do a lot.
Also, 2mil sp + battleship = ******ed. The noob mentality of trying to get into the biggest ship possible as soon as possible is totally wrong. You will lose your BS or BC or whatever to the first decent cruiser pilot you meet. Hell, you might even lose it to a frig now. I killed a mega in a slasher ffs.
There are a bazillion things left to do in EVE. Fly combat, spy, scam, steal, do industry, troll the forums... Its open ended and its up to you to decide. It has nothing to do with the game or SP, it's not an amusement park ride- you make your own game.

what you need to do is join the EVE DEV team and start coming up with the next batch of "fixes" to all the play styles to make things fair for everyone and turn the game into a ATM for "fun" ... cause its just not a good MMORPG because it doesn't play like WoW and we need 200 billion subscriptions before we feel content

SP means a lot, dont be stupid. not only does more SP unlock more ships and modules, but more SP = more time spent in game = more experience. in addition, im tired of these idiotic posts about only needing 3 skills to pvp. i think youre talking about TACKLING stuff, and not about being effective in pvp. if you manage to tackle something (and actually live for a few seconds) you need friends to kill it, which he doesnt. as he stated, his corp rarely pvp's.
so to be effective in pvp, you need lots of experience, dozens of t1 frigs and cruisers lost (hopefully in fun scenarios), and probably a few months worth of skilling up. MOST importantly, you need a group of people willing to risk losing their ships and pvp lots in cheap stuff.
all that being said, faction warfare is an EXCELLENT way to learn pvp, as most gangs fly in cheap T1 stuff.

SP means nothing, and FW is an excellent way to learn the wrong way to play.
Back in the day I had no trouble taking on multiple BS/t2 ships etc in a t1 cruiser because I was smarter. SP means very little. 2 years ago when I started, most of the people I killed had a LOT more sp than me. Most of them had been playing for years already.
It doesn't mean a damn thing. I once 1v2'd a t2 fit apoc and an eagle in my low sp, t1 fit thorax 2 years ago. I killed the apoc and warped out in structure. I had dozens of similar engagements while flying a thorax, vexor, etc...
I have a friend that goes around killing t2 frigs and t2 cruisers in a RIFTER. There is no reason why a noob in a t1 ship and with low SP can not be effective if they are smart.
I don't know if you played some other MMO's with all the fruity leveling and magic and stuff and if it put weird ideas in your head about gaming. EVE is very egalitarian.

If the corp you are in is not doing things which interest you then find a new corp? Perhaps look into some of the corporations which make it their business to train players. You don't have to be fresh out of the tutorial to want to learn something new and getting shown the ropes by someone experienced in the game (and who knows how to teach people) can make all the difference.

interestingly, the same thing happened to me.
But everytime I looked at eve again it always seemed like a game that i WANTED to like, but couldnt figure out HOW to like it!
After my first three months I quit, went to guildwars. Came back about a year later determined to enjoy eve again, so I took myself out of the comfort zone (high sec) and joined a 0.0 corp.
a 0.0 corp really changes everything, but 6 months later I found myself playing other games again.
Another year later and Im reading about Walking in stations, tech3, wormhole space, epic mission, Faction warfare etc.. I got a 5 free day's re-activation. During this period I played Faction Warfare! - and this is really what got me back into eve. But not only that, after watching all the fanfest video's and reading about things coming into Eve, I really felt like I wanted to be part of it, so I re-subbed to play a bit of Faction Warfare and to start making ISK.
So my answer to you is: Faction Warfare ! - not so much because its pvp, but because its pvp where you dont have to worry about sporting the most expensive ship! and because, well, its exciting and cheap!
The thing which kept me coming back was the fact that I usually left a long skill training (ghost training) so when I came back each time I was able to fly more, several years later (now) and there is a lot of different kinds of ships I can fly, interceptors, HAC's, t2 Drones and most t2 modules. I find I can run lvl 4's really easy now and I am enjoying farming the ISK.
Im back in an NPC Corp and not sure what my next step is, but there is going to be a lot to do with the next expansion ;)
