Hi.
Here is a step by step instruction for how to connect to Singularity. Singularity is a public test server which is used to test upcoming changes and fixes and give developers feedback on these. Feedback is usually posted in the Game Development forum and any bugs are reported via the Bug report system. What is special about the test server is that while you have the same skills as you do on Tranquility, most items are available on the market for 100 ISK.
Read this before you join the server:
Since this is a test server, there are special set of rules. Make sure you read them here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=253187
Here is another thread that is very useful to read: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=46836
Why is this interesting for you?
The current stability issues that most people are experiencing have been addressed in this build and you can try it out together with other cool things and give us feedback before it is put on the Live server Tranquility. We welcome all feedback as it is very important to us!

How to
If you have already installed the EVE Client, skip to step 3
1. Download the Tranquility client: http://www.eve-online.com/download/ 2. Install the Tranquility client 3. Rename your install to "EVE Online TQ" or something of your choice 4. Install another copy of EVE Online, download the client here http://www.eve-online.com/download/ 5. Rename that to "EVE Online Singularity" or something of your choice 6. Go here: http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity 7. Download the latest Tranquility to Singularity patch 8. Execute it and point it to the install called "EVE Online Singularity" 9. Note that the client you just patch changed name to "EVE Online" again. So, rename it to "EVE Online Singularity" again 10. Run the client.
Comments, questions and ideas are very welcome.

What happened to the old thread?
I have no idea whether the above instructions would work or not as there currently is no mac patch available.
When the old patches were online, they would NOT have worked according to the above instructions. Various replies on the old thread did explain how to copy the preferences folder, how to manually edit the info.plist file within the patched client to point to the new preferences folder and how to edit a file in the preferences themself to point to the test server IP.
We'll have to wait for the patch to be ressurrected. When the patch will become available again we'll see if things have changed or not.

(YES!) Sadly there is no Patch to download.
I would be grateful to have an ETA when the patch can be downloaded again.

erm..
there seems to be no TQ to Sisi patch to download. the mac premium sisi client I downloaded lists the server as TQ even after I manually changed the info.plist file as given on the evlopedia page.
any advice, has it been taken down prior to the expansion release??

The Info.plist file needs to be edited only if you want to keep separated preferences directories for the different clients (especially for the case of running multiple clients at the same time).
It used to be the case that to connect to SiSi you had to edit a settings file (not the info.plist one) and add the server address, but the premium beta client does not need this as it comes with the SiSi settings embedded.
Note however that currently the client is "behind" a patch, so connections to SiSi has not been possible since yesterday afternoon.
Follow the discussion.

For anyone trying to test out Sisi, there's no direct patch for some reason. You'll need to patch in the following order:
http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/test/mac/evepremiumpatch85476-85598_test-mac.tgz
http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/test/mac/evepremiumpatch85598-85790_test-mac.tgz
85790 is the current Sisi version. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

hello everyone.
i see that the patch page says tranquility and singularity are 'running the same build' and to use our regular client to connect to singularity.
that sounds good, but how does one choose to connect to singularity and not tranquility?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers

The procedure to hack the client to connect to Sisi (when running the same version as TQ) is listed at the top of the page:
Link
That will ultimately take you to a Eve wiki page that instructs you how to hack some prefs files to point the test client to Sisi's IP address rather than TQ's. But it still gives the 'Incompatible Release' error when pointed to the correct server, so I assume Sisi is either down or running a new double secret client. |

From what I see the SISI client is at an older release than the TQ client; 6.12.88973 I believe. This has happened before in which case I'm lucky to keep a back track of files named for the version number. Still would be great if a patch could be released for TQ -> SiSi. |

Has any progress ben made on this? I have, so far, tried downloading the SiSi client, both before and after this most recent patch. I have also tried downloading the Regular client and adapting it to connect to SiSi via the instructions in this thread. Finally I have tried downloading the regular client and applying the SiSi patch. No luck on any of these methods. if anyone has any further suggestions i would love to hear them. My corp likes to run practices on the test server, and quite frankly this is a big let down. |
