Placid Reborn retires from Gallente Militia
More than eight months ago CONCORD sanctioned the "Emergency Militia War Powers Act" that caused capsuleers all over the EVE cluster to join militias in order to fight a war that the empires themselves were unwilling to embark upon. Placid Reborn immediately joined the Gallente militia to defend Placid in the hope that this would ultimatively show the Federation how the Placid region desperately needs more support and defence. It was our hope to lead by example and motivate the Navy and pod pilots alike to follow and step up in the defence of the stricken systems. However, eight months of fighting against Caldari invaders and pirates alike have changed nothing in the Federation stance. Countless pilots risk ship, life and limb every day to keep Federation property from being overrun by ruthless invaders, yet the Federation refuses to give these pilots any motivation to keep doing so. Even worse, every hour teaching Navy pilots how to defend their installations and repelling Caldari invaders is an hour not spent on advancing the corporation. Due to this Placid Reborn has not grown but stagnated, even shrunk in the last months.
Thus we hereby announce our withdrawal from the Federal Defence Union.
It is with mixed feelings that we decided to take this step - we do not wish that the planetary population of Placid suffers the same hardships as those in Verge Vendor and on Caldari Prime. But we feel that in the long run stepping back for a while will help the region more than putting off the inevitable.
The lazyness and inactivity of the politicians is not the only reason. During many patrols our researchers have noticed weird phenomena in the systems while scanning for intruders, and they believe that something is afoot that should be investigated further - definite results are expected to be available beginning of March. Conducting these investigations while under threat from pirates and warring pilots at the same time will be to be difficult, thus we plan to remove at least the difficulties we can control.
At a later date Placid Reborn might sign up again, this decision mostly depends on how the Federation decides to support those who risk everything in the defence of Federation borders, ships and navy crews while the politicians hide away far from the battlegrounds.
With that we wish to thank everyone in the Federal Defence Union that flew alongside us and helped the Federation to hold back the attackers. We wish you all the best, fly safe and keep Tibus Heth's lapdogs at bay.
At the same time I want to announce that we are actively recruiting again. We are an established corporation with solid roots in the low security areas of Placid and have something to offer for most pilot careers - except those engaging in piracy and other illegal activities. If you are interested in working in the Placid region please visit our public channel "PlacidReborn" or visit our information site at www.placidreborn.net (please note that our forum there is currently very slow).

My own investigations have picked up something similair. It appears, from initial scans, that temporal rifts are appearing momentarily in certain systems before dissapearing. I have not been able to locate any definite root cause to these disturbances but they certainly seem to indicate a wider activity.
As for your retreat from the militia, this seems an appropriate course of action. The people of Placid are doubtless better served by a group that is not involved in an empire proxy war. I applaud your continued devotion to the security and safety of the region.
Good luck. |

Glad to see this. Less politics, more science. I hope we can find some ways to work together. --

I'm, quite frankly, amazed that the empires have managed to bend the will of Capsuleers for as long as they have.

The Intaki Liberation Front also welcomes this news. The dedication of Madame Le'Danness and her pilots to the people of the Placid Region is above question.
However, it has long been apparent to us that the leadership of the Gallente Federation has no interest in the daily affairs of the Placid Region.
Keep fighting the good fight, Madame Le'Danness, and if ILF pilots can assist you in your investigations of anomalies in our area, please do not hesitate to call upon us.
