I am thinking of doing some low-sec mission running for Minmatar and wanted to know what ships people would use for this. I am flashy and cannot go to high sec at the moment so high sec is not an option.
I can fly Amarr, Gallente and Minmatar up to BS's (including CS/Hacs) and all close range T2 guns, for fittings assume I can use any T2 item for these ships (excluding missiles). I want something cheap cos eventually I'll die so only T2 mods please, no faction+ (except el cheapo faction parts under 5m).
I'm not sure how the new probing system will affect me but currently I've excluded the Domi or other drone reliant ships because it makes it a lot easier to probe out. I was thinking of an Amarr ships but I've heard they aren't so great against Angels? What rats will I generally get sent against with Minmatar agents?
Also a ship that can do it fast would be great so as IĈm not sitting around for as long per mission or maybe something a bit smaller that isnĈt as easy to be scanned out.

When I started running missions in lowsec I was thinking the same thing, but what I found is once they start probing for you they'll be there in a couple minutes whether or not you use drones. This happens even if you're using cruiser-sized ships. Really the only safe thing to do is dock up when the probing starts and wait for them to go away. Even if you stay aligned so you can warp at a moment's notice, the mission is blown when they find you.
If you just don't use drones at all the mission will take ages, no matter what ship you use. So when I do missions in lowsec I use a domi and a sliepnir. The faster you finish the mission the less time they have to probe you out.

I think this depends on the region and not the agent, unless you're planning to do missions against other empire factions. Not sure about that, though.

I'm currently doing L3 in low sec out of boredom until I can skill up enough to run L4. How do I tell if I'm being scanned by before getting ganked?

Open your directional scanner, run scans.. frequently! If you see a probe on the list, be ready to gtfo .

You don't need to do that. Every lvl4 mission can be easily done in vagabond. Every hac (if you exclude drones) is ****ing hard to probe and even if they probe you, you are in vaga, so fastest with afterburner and no-one can catch ya, so you will have no need to run scanner :)

Edited by: Ranekor on 02/03/2009 23:08:24 Thanks Disintegrator, vaga doesn't sound too bad but wouldn't it be fairly slow to complete missions?
Any other suggestions for Minmatar agent mission running ships? Don't worry about the low-sec part just ships and setups will be appreciated.
Is it the opposite of Gallente which would make the majority Angel missions with Serps as the secondary faction you shoot?

I don't know how crowded it is in your lowsec, but I see Dominix and Typhoon as good L4 ships. At least for some missions these boats would be a good choice, due to the amount of e-war that sometimes are. Both missiles and drones are able to find their own target when you are unable to, and they both got a good range. If you are looking into smaller ships, I know that Ishtar is also a popular choice for L4 missions. The best option would be to have different ships for different situations, I'd say, and you being able to fly ships from 3 factions makes it hard to say what's best.
