Hi there! Is there any way to protect myself against this? Makes no sense. You keep missioning and bigger part of your income is taken by somebody else.

Blow the wrecks up, warp out so he gets aggro, or shrug your shoulders and let him get on with it. Salvager is an intended eve profession, wrecks do not belong to you. If you think he's getting an easy ride, try doing it yourself.
The other solution, of course, is to move to a less obvious system.

Missionrunning is a profession. Salvaging is a separate profession. Salvagers harvest wrecks much like miners harvest asteroids.
If you're getting ninjasalvaged, it means that, when attempting to switch over to the salvaging profession to take advantage of a free BM to a juicy wreck field, someone else beat you to the punch. Tough luck, unlike missionrunning, salvaging is a competitive profession. Just hope they don't loot your wrecks as well.

You could try, you know, moving out of mission hubs.
Wait that would mean you'd have to think for yourself. Never mind.

Heh, doesn't looting other people's wreaks cause aggro? ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

LOL. What a silly comment. I am asking a general question in an appropriate forum section. No need to be sarcastic.

It does, and you have two breeds of salvager due to this fact:
The Timid: Just salvages (which doesn't cause flagging), will often warp out if he sees you, often in an NPC corp.
The Baiter: Salvages and loots all he can find in the hope you will take retribution and attack him. In which case he will leave the wreck of his insignificant ship and come back in something much bigger and stronger, and possibly with friends.
Oh and by the way, this question has been asked approximately a gazillion times already. You might want to try learning to search.

Fair enough. I can see all the info there. Thanks.

You could try convo'ing the ninja to tell him (in the most friendly way possible) he can have the loot from the wrecks too. You're just chain mission running and are not interested in looting or salvaging.
Then when he's flashy red, kill him As a former ninja salvager, I've fallen for this once. Only once though.
You could also bookmark the location, complete the mission, and return with a ship fitted for PvP. Usually when everything in the mission grid disappears, ninja salvagers assume you're gone for good. Again, I've fallen for this one multiple times. ______________ Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn. |

Two of the simplest actions that can be taken that will reduce you ninja problem is to move to other less crowded system/agents(what nije will live in a system with only 20 mission runners) and pull in your drones as much as possible to any scan probes they stick out like a sore thumb and to any ninja it just indicate there be some killing going one aka there must be wrecks around.

Much like gatecampers, scavengers go where they know there's plenty of targets. Avoid those places and you avoid most of them. Otherwise, just ignore them and complete your mission.

I would suggest fitting a Small Tractor Beam I and a Salvager I to your ship and salvage wrecks as you go. Usually, I tend to tell people not to worry about salvaging until they hit level 3 and 4 missions, because it tends to be the most profitable. There isn't really any way to protect yourself, but a way you could minimalize this is to run missions out of a system that does not have large amounts of people in local chat.
