In an effort to improve the conditions in FW lowsec, PERVS wants to invite both Gallente and Caldari militia to the Villore gate in Old Man Star next thursday, 5th of March 19:00 Evetime. Bring the blob this time. The idea is for everyone to start their logservers and the fleets to engage. When the system/node starts to freeze like it always does, all parties will have logs to submit to CCP!
Logserver procedure: Close EVE if it's already running Start 'logserver.exe' from your EVE main folder Open a new workspace (ctrl-w) Start EVE Save the workspace after you're done!
Bring whatever kind of ships you want, PERVS will propably show up with cruisers for this one. Might be a good idea to leave your implants home.

Count me in, I'll try and get my corp interested.
Might I suggest a Planet though, or a dead space area where representatives can meet so the fleets can warp to each other at 19:00?

The Villore gate is pretty convenient, Gallente can gather their forces in hisec and jump to the Caldari one on the OMS side. But more fine tuned arrangements can be made if its necessary.

Sounds good. I'll try to help in spreading the word to Gallente. I think it's wise to fight on a gate to replicate the location and conditions of most battles.

Oh and, the idea is to 'kill' the node, or at least get some good logserver action going on. I think CCP will ignore this case of purposefully causing lag, they asked for it. Blob till you drop.

I like the idea, however I have a suggestion.
I propose that the time be moved back to somewhere around 2200. My reasoning for this is that given the current schedule it prevents most US players from participating.

Good luck with this .. We did a similar thing a few days a go in the Amarr/Mintard front and it was very succesfull, had a nice 29 v 27 ish fight, only the combatants and a couple of neuts in system, and everyones log servers running.
Predictably lady lag sneaked up and grabbed us by the short and curlys .. but this time we fought back with a log server report ....Hope something good comes of these coordinated efforts.

To add some rules: there are none ofc!
Do not ask or expect reimbursement from CCP, or anyone else. Do not ask for a fair fight, because youre not going to get one. (to be fair, I expect to get royally ganked) Bring cheap t1 ship+fittings and insure to 100%. Survivors can self-destruct for lols.
PERVS will not be doing any trapcrap on this one, guaranteed. We might smack but we keep our word. As for the rest of calmil/galmil, I don't know much but we will be trying to get as many ppl as we can.

I dont, and my corp generally doesn't, bring t1 fitted ships.
Looks like we might show up if we have a couple of people around. Good idea this. Speaking as someone who has lost billions on the weird lag problems in FW systems, I look forward to a solution.

Our ministry of propaganda and ingame ***gotry is currently having a loud debate about this in TS. Personally, I'll just stfu in local this one time. Apart from the 'gf', of course.
On the other note, having falcon @ 200k logservering would be interesting to have. Since most ppl will likely be straight on top of the gate.

Great initiative! .....There already seems to be issues with timings...so...Why not conduct this hourly? ...Start your 19.00hrs lag fest and then repeat (or try too) every hour on the hour. Principal remains the same, Gallente will jump in from Villore Hi-sec into OMS. That way, everyone can get involved, Gives all sides the opportunity to emulate as best as possible usual FW lag and thus provide CCP with regular Data to play with. This also gives our American colleagues a chance to take part in this inititative. Perhaps rotate FC's and make it fun. Remember the ethos of the OP is to emulate the lag so CCP cant sort it out and we can all go back to killing each other and start to enjoy FW!...To that end, The Shadows of The Federation will support this initiative by providing FREE Frigates (T1) during the night, some will be fitted, others not, First come, First serve basis to get as many people involved. Ships available from The bottom (Fed Int) Station from 18.30hrs. Contact A SoTF member if you want one.Lets make it count, lets make it fun."Happy Days"!

If the issue is simply lag, why waste good ships? If the issue is to trigger "lag-by-blob", just get a few dozen on each side to show up in blind clones flying noob ships. That way CCP gets the data and nobody on either side risks a single isk.
Or is that too easy and simple?

This is going back to top because I say so! Let's make a sacrifice for the good of FW. 10m to the guy who gets Bad Messenger's killmail! (yeah it's a bit low but it ain't nothing more than a token bounty)
Repeating the idea: Waste some cheap ships, get lag to happen, get logserver files for CCP so they can fix our game! T1 cruiser with T1 fittings and full insurance is the way to go. Use a cheap clone and remember to check it's up to specs skillpoint wise. And most important part: HAVE LOGSERVER TURNED ON FOR THIS FIGHT

Your rules are plain stupid:
1) You can use smarts, but the fight is at the gate so its kinda hard to use smarts. 2) Why? Its is normal combat, realy dont see why u cant use FOF's? 3) WAT? This is LAGFEST '09 OFCOURSE U USE DRONES... 4) PODS GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!
See you in LAGFEST '09 \o/

First of all thanks every one who came and hopefully died ;)
At least it lagged as hell for me and my corp mates. We all got logservers running and each of us collected over 1mil lines of log. I hope CCP can tell something about those logs and hopefully fix the FW lag.
All who runned logserver PLEASE save it and send it to CCP.

Hi CCP. I have a very nice log to send you. Here are the highlights:
1. Started logserver 2. Left Nourv with a fleet of 29 and flew down to OMS 3. Huge fight at an OMS gate with hundreds and hundreds of "Out of sequence packet delivery" messages in my logserver. 4. My ship instantaneously melts without me even being targeted. 5. I see "Entering session" message or whatever you see when entering pod, about ELEVEN TIMES. 6. My client freezes up completely for 30 seconds, nothing responds to mouse. I can still talk on EVE voice chat though. 7. I start to regain control a bit and after 20 seconds of mashing the "warp to 0" button (that isn't even lit up) I warp my pod out. 8. I fly back to Nourv in my pod. 9. This is the weird part, I still have 2-3 fps on the whole trip back from OMS. I have a very nice dual core CPU with 2 GIGs of RAM and a 7900. I'm running with every single graphics setting (except LOD) off. 10. I docked at Nourv (still 2-3 fps...) and shut down the log server.
It's 87 Megs... what should I do with it?

Originally by: Phem Nuwan Hi CCP.
Compress and email to me :)

Similar case with me... I found that odd too; already out of the battle but lag still persists...

Originally by: oodin now i remembered why i didnt like blob fights in fw
but this was some weird lag. gall and caldari started to fight so i warped to gate at 70 and started to shoot anyone close to me..after 15-20 sec my ship started to turn around allover the place and message saying "entering space" started to appear so i tought i was dead.after 3 min lag dissappears and my ship is fine..pew pew can start again
:) You blew up my Blackbird. Nobody even had points on me as far as I know, but I was so lagged and between the "entering space" spam (I got the same thing you did) and the other hideous lag I couldn't warp out at all. Then I spent literally fifteen minutes trying to warp my pod out, including lots of warp presses and even some autopilot, but eventually I got scrambled (?) and blown up. I have no idea how they managed that when my pod wouldn't even enter warp (and I even had the autopilot trying it at that point), but oh well.
Definitely an, uh, unique experience. I guess lesson learned is log off if your pod is taking fifteen minutes to warp.
I was running the Mac client so I can't inundate you with logfiles, but it's really nice to see a developer engaging with the community. :)

I still had lag sitting at the gate for a good 10 minutes after the main fight had ended. Cleared up gradually (probably after all the drones were cleared up ) but even warping about in villore it wasnt quite right...
p.s. Great fight, even though I think I was the first to die

Don't think anyone got the Pod as I can't see a Killmail for one on our Killboard, but got his Caracal

That happened to me after a few minutes of lagging. I only actually got to shoot at one target.
Near the end of the battle my logserver crashed. Any way I can recover the data it recorded ? ----------------------------------------------

Duplicated OV here also (lol, duplicate my dongue, there was like 10 of everyone of you), combined with the oh-so-lovely side order of entering ship. CTRL-Q'd because logserver was taking up huge amounts of cpu power, but got some good material I believe. Logged back in and heroically lost my pod. Got 1 kill doing that tho.
I guess the goal of this OP was achieved, and a bit beyond too.

Thats exactly what happen to me as soon as i jumped from Villore to OMS to take part in the fight...
It was imposible to target or do anything for about 10 minutes. And even tho the fight was over within those 10 minutes, my screen kept freezing and the interface wasnt working. Only after i restarted my Client things got back to normal.

Nah, he just happened to be the closest target when we dropped onto that gate. Didn't even see the ship going down even though he was less than 1 Km from me. One minute he's there with full Shields, 5-10 minutes of lag later I'm waking up in Villore in the Clone Bay having not even seeing my own ship going up or my pod. Only found out I'd gotten him when I checked the Combat Log once I'd updated my Clone.
Unfortunately, my E-Mail Client is convinced that the Logserver Data File has a Virus even though I've scanned it repeatedly with my own Virus Scanner (AVG), otherwise CCP would have another 14Mb of Compressed Data from that fight. ---------------

This happened to several of us too, I think there's something in the logfile format that ticks off some heuristic virus scanners. So I don't think you have to worry about infecting anyone with it, but you might have to use another webmail if it doesn't let it through.

My lag wasnt actually that bad, Ive had much worse. Got the old boarding ship thing and a massively duplicated overview, warped out and warped back in and it was fine, got on about 10 km's and even got my drones back. |

Good work to everyone on this. Kudos to Space Pervs for organising this, as this is exactly the sort of thing that is going to help rid FW of lag. With all those logs being sent to CCP, it should give them a good idea of how best to address the issue, and from multiple standpoints.
I just missed this little event by 3 minutes, which annoyed me a little, but I'll get over it.
It may be worth doing this again at some point, perhaps at a peak time on a weekend (maybe a friday or saturday night) to put some real pressure on it. Maybe one or two smaller confrontations in different systems, too.
If we're going to involve ourselves in the diagnostic process, we might as well have a little fun into the bargain.
