Edited by: LeeWoonJae on 27/02/2009 16:54:09 Hi I've recently started flying a hrabinger PvP, this is the first time i've tried pvp on EvE and its fun :P. I'm thinking a gank set-up would be good for the Harbinger because of the high dps it can deal. I'm just wondering what skills I should be training in? Obv the gunnery skills but I'm sure I should be looking into passive tanking. Is this the right thing to do? If so what skills should I focus on besides gunnery?

Edited by: Billy Sastard on 27/02/2009 17:23:50 The harbinger is an armor tanking ship, and passive tanks are a shield only setup. You should be training the appropriate armor tanking skills such as repair systems, mechanic etc, as well as the armor compensation skills. Drone skills would also be a good idea has the harbinger has room for 5 lights which will be very important vs interceptors. You also will want to get your cap skills trained up (energy management & energy systems operation) so that you can still shoot your lasers while running armor reps. <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

Thanks for replying :). I see I see yep ok. My cap skills are not bad atm with energy management and energy systems op at 4 so they will be ok for now. Ye drones sound good. I will probably work up to warrior II's and get some support skills. Should I do any training on sheild skills or just leave them for now and focus on armour tanking skills?

If you plan on sticking with amarr ships your shield skills will be of marginal usefulness at best. I cannot think of any amarrian ships that are better shield tanked than armor tanked. That being said, if you are planning on switching to caldari or minmatar in the future shield skills may be useful, but for an optimal harbinger, they are useless. <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

There are 2 shield skills that every pilot should have
- Shield Operation (Rank 1) - Shield Management (Rank 3)
Faster recharge on shield and more shield hp, might just make the difference between getting a kill or trying to save your pod.

shield management maybe because it would give you a better shield buffer before your armor starts taking hits, your shields are gone too quickly for passive recharge to count at all. all in all the training time would be more usefull somewhere else like armor comensition skills or cap skills

Shield ops is Rank 1 - it takes about a day to get it to 4. True, it won't help an armour tanker much during a fight, but it will help you recover quicker to be ready for the next one.
Incidentally there are viable shield-buffertanked harb fits.
