Will NPC pirates show up in a deadspace pocket after a mission was completed? I dual box, and am looking for a good way to mine in the same system by combat character runs missions. Right now I am running missions in 0.5 space, and do not have combat drones trained yet. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, they will. Not as frequently as belt spawns, but in a little bit stronger numbers and types than belt spawns, at least from my personal experience.
But yes, they definitely will.

Most I've seen is 3 frigs at once. The 7-10k kind. I have experienced less traffic than a reg belt. Ive cleared the Omber mish without a single rat before.

Yes they will spawn. Also I've noticed that the spawn rate is much more random, I've been mining a friends mission for a week now, and some days I will get spawns ever 20 to 30 minutes (seems more prevalent when there in a combat type ship in the area (cruiser, BC, BS, etc) as apposed to just a barge. There was a couple days that I mined for 7 to 8 hours straight without a single rat spawn. As for the 3 rats I guess that is random set aswell as the mish I'm mining is a lvl 1 in .5 space, and I've had 4 rats at 10k bounty each.

If its 0.5 - 0.8 yes they will come,if its 0.9 - 1.0 no rats.Same as normal belt mining..Just not the same spawn rate.

Interesting responses. I've done one of these where me and 4 friends mined for 5+ hours on a mission zone where some 20mil veld in roids is. Not a single rat ever showed up. Same went for several other missions where we spent far less time. (1-2 hours or so.) I came to the conclusion that they do not spawn. Ever. Weird that you guys are having them show up.

Frequency is very variable, I had them spawn every 15-20 minutes in some occasion, not once in 3-4 in others. Quality is more variable too, I had some frigate/cruiser faction spawn in high sec and some drone spawn too.

I believe you get the same kind of spawns you get in the belts in that system. So I doubt you'll get spawns if you're mission mining in 0.7 and higher (or is it 0.8?).

I think it's 0.9 or higher that has no rats.
My impression is that you have a chance of a spawn every 20 minutes or so and the spawn is consistent with regular belt rats for that system. However it seems as though other players being active in the same system can spawn more rats (warping to a belt seems to give a spawn chance for example.)

Like i said...0.9-1.0 no rats...Below that there is a chance they will pop up from time to time..

From my experience, the rats that show up in mission space are belt rats and not a separate spawn. I've had the pleasant surprise of bagging a few harvesters and faction rats while mining in mission space. I think I even got a faction rat in a cosmic anomaly once while mining the CA rocks. ---------------- Mutatis Mutandis |

I spent about four hours mission mining in a 0.6 system in Guristas faction space last night. Got six spawns over that period, one of those spawns a Dread Guristas Infiltrator leading three Guristas Plunderers. None of the spawns was weaker than three ships, none of the ship classes were weaker than Invaders.
I belt mine in this same system frequently and almost never see spawns that strong. Granted, though, six spawns in four hours was a little unusual for mission mining. Usually, it's much less. Probably had to do with the fact that it was very late in the EVE day and they weren't finding anyone else to pester.

well not 100% accurate, there are 1-2 missions that respawn npcs behind you even in .9 space but thoes are kind of trash respawns that sit at the "entrance gate" not sure why they happen to be honest.

Well, I get the spawn every time I mine in a mission belt, sometimes even faction. Btw, which mission has 20 mil veldspar?
