It seems that about half the time, the ship just does a warp to 0 and just sits there. Really annoying during wartime.
Anybody else seeing this?

I think that happens when the dock order gets sent out before the ship is recognized to be out of warp. Got a 'You cannot do that while warping.' message a few times. It seems to happen more often in laggy environments. -------- Ideas for: Mining

Happens all the time since... RMR I think. Maybe sooner, but that's about when I started playing ;) Seems more like 50/50 chance to me. Kind of annoying bug.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

Happen all the time since QR.
I lost two ships with it. I clicked and thank I would be docked but I wasn't...

Since QR I see the same. Your warp to dock command fails more often then not. Even when I unwarp within range of the station.

It isn't/wasn't QR that's to blame. I rejoined after QR and docking was fine everywhere in my region. Then came the client "performance" patch and its not fine anymore. I don't dock/jump probably 25%-40% of the time and it gets worse the longer you play. Now I can't verify that this is just confined to Premium as following a server-side patch in January my classic client blue-screens the machine. Since the RAMSAN500 went in then lag is just exponentially worse so who knows now?
You know if I was the guy that signed off the deal for Atari, I don't think I'd be feeling very well......

Happens to me sometimes. When it does, I simply press "dock" one more time. If I am in a hurry, I may press it after 1-2 seconds of awaiting confirmation. Never considered it to be a serious problem. As I call it, "the station operator fell asleep or went out for a moment"

It does this on the classic client as well. I don't use it anymore, but I did until about six months ago. Same problem still on premium. Seems to have a chance to happen anytime you give a docking command when outside of dock range, whether that be from 500m away or warping in from somewhere. Never seen it fail when in dock range, though.

Edited by: Tractormech on 01/03/2009 17:41:09 Its done this ever since warp to 0 has been. I don't know if its been happening more often lattely or not. There's also the annoying issue of warp to 0 warping you to 2000kn 10% of the time as well. Very annoying.

Occasionally. I've always chalked it up to me accidentally clicking warp to within 0 now and then

Not a serious problem? Try to insta-dock with 2.5 bill. in your cargo at Jita. Or insta-dock in 0.0 with enemies breathing down the back of your tail.
Then again, maybe its a new feature to compensate the pirates for the warp to 0 they're whining about for years now.

I admit that my in-game experience is pretty low and I haven't been in such situations yet. But it seems you may simply press "dock" button several times when you are out of warp. It will dock you in case the docking process is suspended.
As for compensation for pirates - may be. For you also don't always actually warp to zero within docking range... But the good thing is that, it seems (according to animation) that in Apocrypha you will be able to initiate warp from gate (or at least turn in the proper direction) before you uncloak. It's only my thoughts though.

I usually click a few times and watch it dock before I do anything. I have killed people who were AFK and thought they were supposed to be docked however.
What's more annoying is landing 500m off docking range and slowboating into range with a pod....as an outlaw surrounded by anti-pies in interceptors. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

Is it a short warp from gate to station? If so you may well still be in the 30sec session timer when you get to the station which won't let you dock until its over.

I have this issue a lot - roughly 40-50% of the time.
As best as I can tell, it is cause by your ISP dropping packets containing the final dock order, which are sent seperately from the warp-to-0 order. ----------------------------------------------

Yes and 70% of the time it warps to within 1km, forcing you to approach before you are within docking range.

I think its an intended feature, to boost up the number of kills over the galaxy
Guess the solution is to remove the "dock" option when you are too far. Just leave the "warp to 0" like it happens with stargates.

Pretty near all the time for me. The only time it doesn't is when I come out of warp just outside docking range which isn't often.
Aside from that, I've had wierd errors too involving warping. Manual warp to a gate and it tells me "You cannot do that while warping". Ordinarily, I'd presume I hit the AB by mistake while moving the mouse around but I've had it while flying a freighter FFS. Is there some hidden module on a freighter or something?
