IMO you have to give them a reason to want to associate themselves with you. If they're new, you should have a means to train them. If they're skilled, they will want similarly skilled people and plans to do things. If they produce things, they'll want to hear how you can help with them helping you.
Then again I'm not the right person to ask, as I've recruited a grand total of zero people in my times as a recruiter.

Free ships and corporate roles should help to bring in more people. You could also post recruitment adds in local and avoid interviewing people before you accept them. This will give them incentive to join and keep any barriers to joining low. If you want certain amount of quality and insure you are protected from risk, you will have to raise barriers to joining accordingly and limit their roles in the corp. This way you are relatively safe and have decent people in your corp, but at the same time most people won't bother with your corp.

For starters you 'jion RDL banner should be clickable and lead to a recruitment thread in the recruitment forums. There should also be a linkie under the banner that ses 'Jion RDL today!' or soemthing witty, to that recruitment thread also.
your a prolific forum *****, so plenty of people are going to see the add when they're reading your spam on the forums everyday, you probably even have Fans that enjoy reading it, and would like to jion a corp that promisies the same type humor allday.
When recruiting, i simply state what my corp does, and the benfits over similar corps. making promises doesnt really help in the long run i think, and making cliams you cant keep is a deffinate no-no if you want to attract long term memebrs.
Finally you can just offer them straight up isk... i actually came across a recruitment thread in the forums a few days ago that offered 50m per week to its members.... I almost made an alt to jion it, just to see what was going on (im assuming kidney farming)

For me, a corp has to be respectful, mature, but not so serious. Guys who enjoy playing, hopefully people with military backgrounds so that they can get their head in the game when it comes down to getting something done, but peeps who generally just want to have fun.
Little warning signs when someone's recruiting, though, are things like: - Wanna come join my corp? (The keyword here is the 'my', showing that the individual is probably some pre-teen wanting to show the world what kind of leader he can be who started a corporation for no other reason than to have the other corporate leaders respect him more *cough*) - We'll give you free ships! (This is usually a warning sign for a company with a high tax rate, and like it or not, most corps with high tax rates have a firm kickback going to one to three individuals at the top where they fund their own game with) - We're allied with a corp in 0.0! (If they aren't actually in an alliance, what they more than likely are is some alliances 'meat shield' for a couple of their less profitable systems. This corp can expect NEVER to get a response team to their systems in time to kill the raiders, and will probably find itself taking heavy losses. They're serfs to a higher power, but the directors are often too naive to see it) - u want2 join Me??? (Lack of punctuation? Inability to type full words? Leetspeak? Yeah, if this guy is anything more than the cities idiot (check for 'recruiter' or 'director' tags, hehehe ...), this is a corporation doomed to stupidity.)

Hire a respectable recruiter, or have someone in your organization recruit.
IF you can't do that make an alt and present them as a respectable character and use them to hire.
Once you get people in your corp and they enjoy your corp have them post in your recruitment thread and possibly make them your recruiter.
But yeah, you should not be recruiting on the forums. You might be able to get some people in game but on one here takes you seriously and sees your corp as either pods waiting to happen or a trap to lure people into Rancer so they can be podded.

Edited by: Krasnij Okjabre on 01/03/2009 23:46:10 By reputation helps a lot.
You are very good at what you do so I would suggest either:
a) Giving up your own corp and applying to THE INTERNET
or
b) Trying to rival them for s**tposting.
I'm sure people will draw their own conclusions as to what you should do.
Kras.
Edit: You say your corp is cool? Where you been? People won't stick in a corp with an inactive CEO... will they?

This really but as a small starting corporation this can have it's own problems as you have no word of mouth to speak of and no reputation in the beginning. People have to take a chance on it. Or join an existing better known corp.
I used to recruit for a 0.0 feeder corporation that (depending on your view of the galaxy) had a good reputation, good numbers already in it and a proven track record for getting people into 0.0 with much pomp and ceremony. It was easy to recruit.
Later I tried to start my own corporation trying to draw people from other games, we had a membership of 200 in other games to recruit from (which has it's own hurdle - why switch games etc) and also existing players. It failed.
There was nothing wrong with the corp idea, the corp infrastructure or the ethos behind the corp. It recognised it was small, it recognised it was puny militarily but it did have plans to grow. Realistically, to do what it's aims were would have required a core of at least 20 members and from there to grow. I started it with 2 and didn't progress much further than that.
You do see many other corps start with that number so maybe it was the luck of the draw, the name or just me.
Good luck.

With all due respect, a different goal.
Of all the EVE goals I could consider, defending Rancer from piracy has to be the very bottom.
The best method for a PvP corp to recruit is grab the people who you've had good fights with. You'll see how they perform in a different environment and you'll see if they are laid back enough not to emo-rage because you killed their wonderful boats. *** Currently Playing: Trolls from Outer Space Current Equipment: VISAcard chain mail, +2 Amulet of Epic Whine, Self Banstick +2 WTB: +666 E-peen killboard stats |

If you want Pvpers, Which i am sure you do, Promise PVP.
The more PVP the better, In fact promise 24/7 PVP
Because one thing is for sure, PVPers want PVP more then anything else. You can intise them with ISK, roles, LSD, whatever but in the end its the PVP that keeps people.

I thought no one was going to mention this.. Want young talent, pwn newbs.. the ones who get excited and ask questions are the ones you recruit.
We pick up older players too but mainly by fighting with or against..
Finally, I once made friends with Chuck Norris jokes in local. Never underestimate Chuck.
