So, Im a drone pilot with very little PvP Experience. My prefered boat is the Arbi, as I have Amarr Cruiser V and Interfacing IV- almost V. I want to help in fleet combat- what is the viability of being a dedicated Inty/ Tackler killer? I can use T2 Warriors, as well as the Gallente drones- not Heavies yet, but getting there. Obviously, Id need Warrior IIs and DNCs- What else? ----------------------------------------- Vis Pacem Para Bellum If you want peace, prepare for war.

A tracking disruptor - not necessarily for inties, but you got a bonus for it on your ship and reducing the efficiency of turret ships is very useful.

All drone boats make above-average tackle killers, one or two drone speed mods and Warrior IIs make for a frigate feast.
You should use at least one, preferably two tracking disruptors on the Arbi .. the amount of damage they can mitigate is quite large (and they get you on killmails!). Add an assault launcher with lights to speed up the tackler killing and you have a perfect fleet grief mobile.
Just be aware that a competent FC with a lot of turret ships will commonly clear Arbitrator hulls from field immediately after the ECM ships .. so life can be rather short.

Drone boats tend to make terrible fleet ships. Drone boats are good for camping gates, however. Sit 20 or 30km off the gate and assign your drones to a fast tackler. Pro-points if you have T2 sentries like Garde II's assigned. BOOOOOYAH! |

Edited by: UMEE on 05/03/2009 04:18:49 warriors, and other drones, cannot take down competent inty pilots. if an inty is orbiting and disrupting around 20km, theres little you can do about it. at least hes not dps'ing. if hes scrambling you, hes dead.
drone speed mods wont cut it because drones have a low orbit speed. they must orbit to fire. so even if your warriors go 5-6km/s, they gotta drop speed in order to orbit; the inty will gain distance at this point. therefore, if the inty is not scrammed, drones cannot help you.

A set of 5 Warrior II's won't take down my crusader. I'll kill them before I hit hull and keep you tackled; however, if you add in any extra drones or DPS and I'll pop like a balloon poodle being molested by a horny terrier.

I vote this for simile of the week.
A relatively new drone user here and another Arby fan. I always make sure my adorable little dronies are safely docked before jumping and feel an immeasurable amount of guilt when I have to leave one behind....

Mate, Elephantitis is a serious issue. If you are hanging your stones low enough to slam the berries under the seat, you might need to seek medical assistance............

Depends on the pilot that is fielding the drones. My warrior II's hit 7800m/s and can eat a crusader very quickly. ---------- This post brought to you by the worst PVP'er in Eve |

Don't worry about Poor little Jimmy, I picked him up and found him a good home. I love drone boats, I make millions of isk collecting lost drones that show up on probe scans and selling them - err, finding them good homes.
edit: oh, and the simile has my vote.

This thread just turned into wild drivel. What is going on on these forums? Also, the Arbitrator is probably one of the best anti-frigate-class cruisers in the game.

My threads seem to turn to drivvel rather quickly... I think its the constant sexual references. Regardless, Lets get it back on track- Is there anything more satisfying then popping frigs with an Arby? (Hint: Yes. Getting the final blow on a moros? Moros
No, I have no idea what a flashy red Moros was doing solo on a lowsec gate, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. ----

Vexor. I win.
Also, why sentries? You can only use 3. And they can barely hit a T1 destroyer with no AB froom 30K, much less an inty. "Isn't the Eiffel Tower an early prototype of a Minmatar Battleship?" --Illectroculus Defined |

So it isn't so strange to describe My Puppies like i do: "puppies". In a lot of kind:
" ... and now: GO, My little nasty puppies! " or " ... puppies, you did a good job: tonight double ration of nanite paste for dinner... "
... and so on... so on... so on.............
And my mind runs on a fusion between Darth Vader and Ming

Don't have much experience with fleets, but as far as solo/small gang goes...
Drone Navigation V - will get your warrior IIs up to a good enough speed to catch most 'ceptors Drone Sharpshooting V - as was said earlier, they'll be outside their optimal most of the time. Every little bit helps Drone Speed RIGS (not the module) - if you feel like going the extra mile. The rigs will boost orbit speed as well, the nav computer only boosts MWD speed
You'll also want to carry at least 1 full spare flight of Warrior IIs as any competent 'ceptor pilot will shoot them and you should expect losses. A TD on a turret 'ceptor will help a lot as well - won't do anything to a Crow but a Crow's DPS is low enough that you should be able to cycle them through your drone bay to break locks.
You should also be wary of 'ceptor pilots overheating their MWDs - an overheated MWD can outrun warrior IIs and has the nice (for the 'ceptor pilot) side effect of zeroing out their transversal. You can't overheat an MWD for very long though, so if you see them doing it just pull your drones in for a moment and redeploy them.
Also, watch out for Amarr interceptors, they have naturally high explosive resists and can tank Warrior IIs - even bonused ones from an Arbi or Vexor, for a surprisingly long time, and if you don't have a TD they stand a good chance of being able to shoot down two full flights of Warrior IIs.
If you're going pure anti-tackle, you might also want to consider fitting small long-range weapons (railguns, artillery, or beam lasers, depending on your skills, arbi has no turret bonuses so you can stick whatever in there), for supplemental DPS and the possibility of being able to force them to withdraw if you lose all your drones.
