Okay, here in the UK the Watchmen is out tomorrow, and I'm can't get to see it till Tuesday of next week. Regardless of that does anyone here hold out any hope of it being good? I've yet to see an Alan Moore comic adapted to the big screen that didn't suck big time. Several critical scenes seem unlikely to have made it across to the big screen, in particular those involing everyone's favorite homicidal vigilante, Rorschach.

Even if it is not true to the story I will still probably enjoy it. I have been waiting for 6 years for this movie to be made and I'll be damned if a little "creative interpretation" is going to get in the way of my Watchmen experience.

I just passed up the opportunity to watch a midnight showing (starting in a handful of minutes) with a friend. Really want to see it, but soooo sleepy I don't know much about the Watchmen (ie anything at all), but generally enjoy most of the graphic novel and comic adaptations that have made it onto the big screen. Last I saw was "Hellboy II" Looking forward to hear reviews here as they become available. -------------

I watched it without knowhing a single thing about the origins, and i have to say i really liked this movie. It's the first in quite a while i have to say, so thats something.
The movie has a bit of all, romance, tragedy, action, trash, bad guys, good guys, sex, blood, splatter, comedy and some surprisingly deep thoughts about humanity, society and some other things. The movie isn't perfect, but i damn sure enjoyed it quite alot.

If you enjoyed Hellboy II there's really not much that can disappoint you, unless they do it all in stills with piany playing over the pictures.

just got back from the midnight show
personally I loved it, there were a few things I'd have done differently (whoever decided which songs to attach to which scenes needs to answer for their sins) but nothing was sufficiently damaging to destroy the movie.
I had a great time, which is really what it's all about. I'm a huge fan of the book and the movie didn't butcher it.

Well. That's an achievement in a league of it's own.

Going to watch it this weekend hopefully. From what I've read so far people have been saying it's about as close to the book as you could expect a film to get so I'm actually kind of hopeful. Also I read that while many things needed to be left out for the general release version much is planned to be included in the DVD release - the obligatory extended director's cut will be there, but also they plan to include the Black Freighter and Under the Hood as extras

went and saw it because i live in the future (hooray for australia). Massive comic fan and loved the film. Obviously some things were removed for time constraint reasons, but the essential plot is still there and the Castaway sub-story is being released on DVD sometime next week (apparently).
Only major divergence from the original is the ending, and tbh, I like the film version better than the original. It just makes more sense to me.
Also, the person *****ing about the music - it's the same music as what is in the comic and it suited the film perfectly (except the My Chemical Romance garbage).

Like I said, it didn't ruin the movie for me by any means. However there were definitely a few scenes where the music caused a few snickers in the audience instead of enhancing a moment. Definitely a minor quibble. I've already got tix for IMAX on sunday

I saw it, it was absolutely fantastic.
I very much look forward to the news-stand side story on DVD, I understand why that was cut though.
I agree that some of the music was out of character, but that is such a minor issue.
<3 Phillip Glass!
All in all, one of the best movies I have ever seen in my entire life.

Went to see it earlier... absolutely loved it! Its a perfect match for the comic because, for me, it helps explain some things a little better... Seriously though, utterly fantastic movie! ------------------------------------------ - To Jumanji, or not to Jumanji...... - |
