Hi,
Today I was killed on a level 4 mission by player pirates.
They attacked me when I was in combat on the mission.
I do not understand how the player pirates could follow me to the mission location.
How did they know where to warp ?
Hope anyone has an answer to this?

probing hmmm it uses probes with probe launcher so find what and where in the system kind of a locator within the system in space, it use different kind of probe to get good accuracy so they can find ships with recon probe launcher or find complexe(deadspace) with scan probe one's......whenever you do mission's in low sec you should always be aware of ppl in system and be ready to get away, and use your system scanner so you know some ships are coming using the distance settings..
Good Luck

if you really have no idea what probes are you should wonder whether you should run missions in low sec. please read warfare and tactics section on the forums asap.

The good new, or bad - depending on where you stand on the issue, is that in M10 patch there will be no added difficulty to scanning down ships inside deadspace (missions).
This is unconfirmed or I could have interpreted what I read the wrong way, though, so do take this with a pinch of salt.

Just don't do missions in systems lower than sec status 0.5 and you'll be ok. You're just a fat juice target in your mission fit ship in low sec. |

...and the bad news is that it is hardly possible to scan out anyone anymore as it is near impossible to pinpoint the ship you are looking for when probing.

I am aware of the extreme danger when going into low sec.
Therefore I jumped very quickly from the gate to the mission location.
But, I was just surprised that they could go to the deadspace and find my there. I thought, I was safe there.

And one more question about pirates attacking when doing missions in low sec.
In the wiki-guide for missions, the following advices can be read about low sec missions:
"Being always aligned to a celestial object, like a planet of moon, always checking local, leaving a container near the entrance acceleration gates are good actions to take to prevent unfortunate encounters with pirating players."
My question is then: what is a container, and what is the purpose of leaving it at the entrance acceleration gate?

When you eject something from your ship it ends up in a container. The can (=conatiner) will decloak a prober when he/she warps to your mission.

Don't even know where to begin with this.
How are you running L4 missions, but don't understand pirating, lo sec or probing??
I know the game has had some easy mode changes since i started playing (yeah, original 5k & Ship player..lol )
To reiterate the advice given ALL over the forums and ingame.

Ok, but I am just playing for the fun, and I am not complaining about anything - just trying to figure out what happen.
By the way, I had actually one Warp Core Stabilizer on my ship, but is seems to me that it was not enough.
How many Warp Core Stabilizers are needed on a Megathron to be almost sure that you can get away?
(I was jammed by a smaller ship, a gallente cruiser).

Was it a Phobos? If it was he probably had a focused warp script which has an infinite warp scram strength. If not then he probably was fitting a warp scrambler instead of a warp disruptor. Scrams have +2 jamming strength and disruptors have only +1. ---------- This post brought to you by the worst PVP'er in Eve |

You can get killed by anyone in 0.4-0.0. I looked up your killmail on battleclinic and noticed that you REALLY need..and I mean REALLY need to armor tank that megathron for L4 missions. No guarantee that you would have fought off those pirates, but you will have a much better tank in the future if you armor tank.

Now that's just wrong. That ship deserved to die.

It is correct my ship is not perfect for a level4 mission, since I do not have level 5 on gunnery yet.
But this was my first level 4 mission, some my plan was to see if the drones, medium missiles and medium guns could do some damage.
Regarding tanking. I was working on getting an extra large booster up running constantly.
But still, I do not know whether one more Warp Core Stabilizer could have saved me.

You should look through HERE and get some better ideas on how to set up a ship. Peruse the forums and you can get quite a bit of information on most things. Stick to Hi-sec for awhile and run some missions that will be easier for your skill points, along with the appropriate ship. Better luck next time.

Another warp stab would have severely hampered your missioning as they have drawbacks also. One more may or may not have saved you. Chances are not.

I think training up to use a T2 shield booster would really have made the difference.

Disagree. Get an armour tank on the Mega, and definately not an omnitank like the killmail shows...

If they are on the move, jumping between safesports, yes, it's harder.
But mission runners are almost static (relativly speaking). Even if the mission has several deadspace pockets those are always in close proximity to one another.

1. I was warp scrambled 2. I was sensor damped 3. My ship was slow compared to the attackers 4. They were three or more 5. They send 10 drones out to destroy me

Yeah, Thermy, he's poking fun at you.
I think people could be nicer about it, but they're right - you should probably learn more about how to fit that ship before you mess with L4s. And, you should probably know how to run L4s comfortably before you attempt to mission in lowsec.
Given what I've seen in this post and the killmail, I'd suggest finding a nice highsec mission agent where you can learn to fly L4s well. Once you've done that, maybe graduate to running lower-level missions in lowsec so that you can learn the "lowsec ropes" while minimizing your loss potential. Mission-running ships are expensive to lose.
