Bad spelling, grammar and punctuation. Yes, it takes about twice as long for others to understand what the hell you guys are yapping about. I go into rage mode when I see this kind of crap: "you will loose you're ship if you use that setup"
Okay, even if you guys are too lazy to form full and coherent sentences at least get the words right. Time for some free education. No need to thank me, although I am accepting isk donations.
Lesson 1 Loose [loos] (adjective): not fitting tightly or closely e.g. He was wearing trousers that were too loose for him. Lose [looz] (verb): to no longer have something or to have something taken away e.g. I'm about to lose my ship to an passive tanked Ibis!!!!
Lesson 2 'You're' a contraction of 'you are' e.g. You're great with spelling, grammar and punctuation. Your (pronoun) e.g. Your Rifter was a pile of crap compared to my passive tanked Ibis!
That's all for now. Please enjoy learning, and don't forget to donate.

It's not really the spelling that gets me sometimes, it's the punctuation, or lack there of. I can't stand trying to read someone's post and it completely lacks any type of punctuation or annotation. Basically, like so:

At least you capitalise and punctuate correctly, and the words have all the correct letters for the correct spelling :)

Well, both annoy me, especially considering that Firefox has a built-in spell-checker, but if I had to pick one that was worse, I'd agree that it'd be lack of punctuation. It makes thing really hard to read.
Am I the only person that goes back and looks over my posts before hitting "post"? This isn't real-time chat--it's worth taking the time to go back over and make sure that your post at least makes sense.
EDIT: Here, I'll contribute:
The number one error I see is confuing "its" and "it's": "its" - belonging to it - "The blockade runner lost its warp strength bonus, but got the ability to fit a covert ops cloak." "it's" - contraction of "it is" - "It's much better at getting through gate-camps now."

You do realize that many people are in fact from countries other than England or America, and although most do teach English as a second language, a lot of people from those other countries may not have focused their studies on learning a "Foreign" language.
Not that i disagree with you, it is hard to understand certain things at times, but I'd usually find out where they were from before judging their good or bad English. its really just more diplomatic in a sense

Yeah, thanks for spotting that mistake. I originally had 'an Ibis' but then decided to be clever with words. Serves me right, I guess.
Anyway, on with the lessons!!!!!
Lesson 3: Their (pronoun) e.g. Their passive tanked Ibis' were awesome!!!! There (noun/pronoun/adverb/adjective) but its mostly widely used as an adverb or pronoun, I guess. e.g. There is a corp made up of only passive tanked Ibis'.

Haha, I could read it without even think about it.
Although, in all seriousness, walls of text are not an enjoyable read, as is the lack of punctuation (as in, the entire post is on one line and there doesn't seem to be a break in between them and it gets really annoying and...well...you get the point).
Before posting it, hit the preview checkbox and READ IT YOURSELF before posting. If you can't read it, chances are that other person x miles away can't read it either. ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

The easy answer is that most of us don't care.
The real answer is that you get folks who are like me. They learned to spell phonetically. We can tell a word is spelled wrong, but can not tell you how in a lot of cases.
Then there are the folks who are English as a second, third, or fourth language. The fact they can read/write in multiple languages still astonish's me.
Third, you get folks from all age groups. From out right kids, to people in retirement homes. Ever heard a 95 year old man call primaries? He knows every ship in the game, has excellent pvp instincts, but doesnt' know what an SMS message is.
Then you get folks like me who type around 100 words a minute. Sometimes we're 3 paragraphs in before we notice the nice little red underlines telling us it's spelled wrong. Combine that with the phonetic spelling issues of above, and we're screwed.
There's also the folks who are typing this FAST because their char is sitting at a gate in 0.0 about to jump in, waiting for the rest of the gang to catch up.
Theres also folks like Jenny Spitfire who intentionally make their posts read like a dyslexic, 3 year old with torrets <SP?) syndrom.

Oh, and bad English? So what... the great thing about free will is that you don't have to read it.
But, yeah. These forums seriously need some indicator that the post has ended and the sig has started. |

What an an absurd comment to make on the forums, how pathetic are you...you do know that eve is played by thousands of players across the globe, from iceland, to the uk, from the states to russia.. A lot of these countries don't speak english as their first language, so a few spelling mistakes are to be expected. Get used to it you idiot. As I lived in Iceland for 7 years I know how hard it can be to get the grammer/spelling correct, and remember that english is probably one of the hardest languages to write cause so many words that sound the same have a different spelling and it's hard for a non-native speaker to get right..

Yeah, but you can usually tell the difference between a lazy, illiterate native English-speaker and someone who doesn't have English as their first language. Folks in the latter group tend to make an effort to get it right in my experience. Most of the true morons are from the UK and the US, it seems. 'Should/could/would of' is a dead giveaway, for instance. A sure sign of a chav.
In before blaming it on dyslexia! --

Hehe op got owned by this. I can not believe that i could read everything as if it was written normal except 2 words and thats probably because english is not my first language.
To the op, i do not know if english is your first language. Do you speak german ? If not or not so good, then how would you like it when i getting upset about your spelling. I am not talking about complete sentences which i think everyone can form in some way, no matter what language is the first one if one does speak a second language. It is allways easy to point with the finger when others are not so good in something like you.
But as smart as people like you think you are, maybe you should use your brain and just stop reading post that you do not like instead of getting upset like a stuffy old man.

Resident self-correcting Afrikaans dyslexic with typing impeding arthritis and no high-school qualifications reporting in!
While I agree that it is annoying to have to decipher wall-of-text posts, or simply posts that have poor grammar/spelling, you have to keep in mind that not all users on this forum are native English speakers.
Others are, but are dyslexic (with exclusion to those faking it; they're obvious and just plain annoying, because there are too many idiots that feed their trolling)
Others simply have a disorder known as "submitbeforeyouspellcheck" (quite the tongue twister, isn't it?). This kind of user is genuinely annoying, as they have no excuse other than being too lazy to notice the words underlined in red and right click -> correct them. ---

I wanted to switch all the letters around per the Cambridge style but I am out for the night.

That's fine, but don't be surprised when people don't take you seriously. That's all.
Nothing is more pitiful to me than the defense of willing ignorance.
You mean the willfully ignorant? Or at least willingly ignorant?
That's fine, but you should clean up your own grammatically proverbial backyard before knocking at your neighbors door.
You see, the thing with criticizing grammar on a forum is, you have to then be perfect with your own because you paint a huge target on yourself.

I hate it when people confuse the 'a' and 'an'. It really throws me off-track. It literally rips apart the flow of the text.

Your trolling the OP fails, you deliberately spell your, fat, something wrong, but you also spelled anally wrong.
Unless that was a bipartite troll, for which I applaud you.

I must say that is pretty damn fantastic and proves a certain point.
As to the OP, I cannot stand purist/pedant people that quibble over how words should be said or written. I think this is a rare phenomenon among people. My girlfriends friend is like this BIG time and sometimes I wish I could walk away from her annoying ass. If you fight it, she will go on and on. Example. There was four of us playing a board game and during the middle of another persons turn..."Shouldn't 'die' be spelled 'di'?" WTF WHO THE F CARES? And for the record this bothered the hell out of me and I found out she was incorrect, when referring to dice, in single form it is in fact die.

I gave up before finishing first sentence. Yeah, English is not my native language.
There is too much text on internet for me to decipher every crap I came to, especially when poster is trying to prove he is an idiot. Capitol ships anyone?

Capital ships, I believe. ;)
On topic; I do not care about grammar as long as the person makes a try - I speak fluent Swedish, German and English with a decent chance of understanding Spanish as long as it is slow and clear. However I do not think that this gives me a reason to put together some ragtag sentences without a care - quite the contrary. I find it great fun working on my language skills, as it is something you may benefit from immensely as well as providing social capability in international situations. I have an easy time with languages and have always had. I spoke English before I began school and while this is quite common in Sweden, it may be much rarer in other countries. For example, in Germany you will not be taught English until fifth grade and if I remember correctly the same applies to other European countries.
That said, grammar is something to be cherished and applied as much as possible. After all, it's the difference between:
"I helped my uncle, Jack, off his horse"
and
"I helped my uncle jack off his horse"
Still, in the end... It is not about your literary prowess, but what you use it for. I fear for this world when we start rejecting people because they can't tell the difference between pea **** and peacock.
