hello,
what to setup a long range decent damage dealing bs and bc for my alt, just wondering what weapons type will do the highest amount of damage per volley?\

i have not created the character yet, sniping is just one of the roles i want it to be able to to well, so im going to pick the race based on which weapons hit the hardest.

Amarr Apocalypse BS and Zealot HAC are, by most characteristics, the best snipers in their corresponding classes. --- Redesign local/scanner feature - make the place huge, dark and scary again! |

Train Amarr first then work on Caldari. Amarr Apocolypse can easily get a 250km lock and 240km optimal plus omgwtfbbq alpha with the Caldari Rohk and Raven achiving about the same though with a significant reduction in alpha strike damage or in the additional case of the Raven delayed damage. As far as bc go the Amarr are all short range pulse boats by nature though you can get an 80km sniper fit on a Harbinger with beams but Caldari are much better suited to long range for every ship under the battleship class. Bonus points for training both races is access to the Nightmare which will make collecting jump clones easy peasy.

1400mm Howitzer Artillery II.
The posters above seem to be posting their favorite sniping guns but artillery has the highest raw damage per volley.

No question about the great alpha on howitzers unfortunately even with all level 5 skills its limited to about 160km optimal and an additional 40km falloff. So not really the kind of range to make an effective sniper and one of the biggest gripes from minnie players.

Caldari - Rokh + 425mm Railguns Amarr - Apocalypse + Tachyon Beams Gallente - Megathon + 425mm rails Minmatar - train something else, but if you're really pressed Tempest or Maelstrom with 1400mm artillery.

And the lowest range - when an apoc or rokh can reach out and touch you at 220km, artillery range just isn't up to it.

Amaar are the best race to train for a BS as they are heads and shoulders better than all the other races at the kinds of combat regularly available for BS on TQ.
They have max range available to sniper ships while gallente and minimatar do not, the best sniper tracking and instant reload.
And their close range BS fits are so much better than all the other races its a joke that things have not been sorted yet.

Yup, although while the rokh is a caldari ship it is easier for a gallente spec'd player to fly as he is already trained in rails and gunnery support skills.
While caldari players are more traditionally spec'd for missiles so do not normally have the support skills to use a rokh efficiently.
